Mini ITX convert
operating system:
Windows 7I have to say I am a total convert to the Mini ITX form factor. I have been after a very small PC for a while but was unsure about how they would perform compared to my desktop. Well, I have to say it performs very well, actually, quite a bit better than my desktop (although I have also moved to Windows 7 from Vista, so maybe that has helped also). I have a dual core Atom CPU with the nVidia ION graphics built in and I am having no issues in the performance at all. The internet is fast, MS office is fast, it boots up and shuts down quickly and I even have been playing WOW with most of the detail up, no problem. This case is so sleek looking and I have fitted a bracket to the under side of my shelves that this sits under, silently and unless I point it out you would not even know it was there. My last system had a 450W power supply and this only has 65W and it runs faster....go figure, but i will enjoy saving over 90% on the power my PC uses from now on. Anyone who is considering moving to ITX but unsure about performance I would say this. As long as you are not a high performance user (latest games with detail on full, video editing, 3D studio etc), then go for it, you have everything to gain and nothing to lose. Very low power, totally silent and about a sixth of the size of my desktop. I am about to buy 2 more to build for my parents and a mate who are converted after seeing mine.
