Questions about the USB capabilities, It will play off Flash Drives and Ext. HDD.

I just brought this yesterday and tested it, since there was no answers about the USB capabilities.

Product is a good size, light and easy to use. Would recommend this product. I will be buying more for gifts soon. =)

USB didn't play my external hard drive, but USB sticks no problem. avi/Divx compatible.

Played commercially bought dvd but not one's made by me on pc but handled avi files without a hitch.

I've still to do a lot more fiddling with it, but so far I'm very happy with this player and ebuyer.

Great site great value.

Thanks.

Treated Myself for christmas, £20 on a player that plays all the films that i have on my PC, now we can watch them on DVD. Works just like our expensive DVD player, which does'nt play divx or xvid. Money well spent, free delivery, its not a gamble. Well worth the money. You Know You Want One.

It's All Good

This is an amazing little player for the money.

I have tried xvid/divx files from the player (dvds & cds), and also from the USB - and they all work fine.

The problem some people may be having -- is that the player will only read from FAT or FAT32 drives, NOT NTFS.

So if you have an 8GB pen drive that is FAT32 - you are sorted. If it's NTFS - it will not work. Even if the files are ok.

The USB does not "Auto Load" the files - which is what i would have liked - you have to go into the menu and select the USB input. It would have been nice to just show the files from the USB drive as soon as it was plugged in.

I think this is a great player anyway, and it will save me loads of cds :)

Good USB Player

This plays USBs quickly and perfectly.

Remember to get batteries for the remote as they don't come with the DVD player, and USBs only work by pressing the USB button on the remote (I think).

External HDDs do NOT work with it in my experience. I've tried one NTFS one and one FAT32 one and both say 'bad disc'. However, pen drives work fine.

This product has come in very useful for watching downloaded films. Very easy to use. Recommended.

Proceed with caution
review by: David White operating system: Windows XP

I download alot of Xvid/Divx from the 'net and like to watch them through my DVD player over USB. I was using until recently a Philips with USB 1.0 connection. This player everything, no problem. However, on more complicated/busy scenes - the picture would start freezing and jerking - due to USB 1.0.

This player, being USB 2.0 does get around those issues, no freezing or jerkiness - but, I find with an intermittent annoying problem. Some AVI's will play with NO SOUND. The original file does have sound and plays fine on the Philips. This has gotten so annoying, that I've gone back to using the Philips.

Also note that the picture quality is not quite as nice as the Philips, but perfectly watchable. DVD playback seems to be fine - multiregion out the box.

Region-free like the Xenta Value player?
review by: Anonymous operating system: Not Applicable

Does anyone know if this player can be made region-free in a similar way to the Xenta Value DIVX and XVID player?

eg:

1. Press 'setup' on the remote

2. Type '9735' on the remote

3. The current region will appear at the top right

4. Press left/right on the remote to change the region to '0' then press setup again

Thanks
