Very pleasantly surprised

To be honest, I did hesitate in going for this monitor.. I've never used DigiMate equipment before, but I thought I'd chance it. The clincher for me, was the 1920x1080 resolution - and DVI, all for this price.

Got it next day (ordered dinnertime, arrived 11:10AM next day - Nice one ebuyer/parcelforce!)

Stand is slightly flimsy - Could do with being a bit better build but once assembled is fine.

No dead pixels, and the screen is *very* crisp, even on VGA (Note: NO DVI cable included!) I'm going to try it on VGA later. Can't see any lag with movie playback, etc and it's NOT acheiving 1920x1080 using crappy interpolating/interlacing resolutions like other cheapy 'full HD' monitors try and do!

All in all, I'm remarkably impressed at this monitor for the price. Worth every penny and it sits very smart on my desktop. The bezel is very thin, and I don't plan to use the speakers - For what it's worth, it doesn't even look like it has any at first glance!

A decent monitor... and a steal at 109.99

Picture quality:

Brightness was too high off-the-box (as is with most new monitors). Backlight uniformity is not perfect, but nothing that would be readily noticeable or distracting.

Contrast is good, the monitor does a reasonably good job displaying dark areas and the picture is pleasant to look at - although not quite in the same league as some of the high end monitors.

The colors are good, and look vibrant and balanced in most applications. They did not need much adjustment at all. If you are a graphic designer though, they may not be good enough.

Gradients are not very smooth - not the worst I've seen, but may occasionally distract while watching movies.

Sharpness is surprisingly good, even using the VGA connector. It might need a bit of phase adjustment to get it right, but still good overall.

HD content is displayed confidently and in fact the monitor will easily expose any flaws in the recorded material. Anyone who has not experienced full HD before will be blown away.

I have not tested it extensively in games, but during a quick round in Doom it never showed any signs of ghosting or smearing, the image was clear and sharp.

As for the build quality, it is quite cheap, the buttons feel cheap and the stand looks a bit cheap too... Thankfully it's all in gloss black, so from a distance it still looks alright.

Of the three monitors we ordered, one has four dead subpixels, one has two and the last one has none.

Overall, for the price (109.99), it is a fantastic buy, and I would heartily recommend it to anyone. In fact, I was considering getting one for myself - unfourtunately, they seem to have gone up in price quite a bit now so I'd rather get a Samsung/Acer/Viewsonic for under 150 pounds.

Rating:

5 stars at 109.99 - because it's fantastic value

3 stars at 159.99 - because it looks cheap and there are better monitors for this price

One last thing - switching to full HD resolution WILL slow your somputer down as there's much more information on the screen to process - this may or may not be noticeable, depending on your hardware.

Just a few words, really:

First, Ebuyer's service. I ordered this monitor at around 6pm last night (when I found out my old monitor was dead), it arrived half an hour ago! Now *that* is service. And for only a few pounds more than standard delivery!

Secondly, this monitor. Obviously it isn't the highest end of the market, but for the price, it is simply stunning. Brightness is good right out of the box, and seems fairly consistent across the screen. No dead pixels that I can see so far too!

I've just playing an HD version of The Black Knight, and it does look amazing. I was worried about the blacks, as my old monitor tended to grey them out, but this one is fine. Picture is very sharp, and it refreshes well.

For build quality, the stand is pretty sturdy, once you put the holding screw in (it's in the same bag as the manual & warranty). There is a little bit of wobble, but if you work on a solid enough desk, then you won't notice a thing. The buttons underneath are a bit of a hard touch, but you'll only use them once, so not an issue.

Overall, a good monitor, made into a fantastic monitor by the price!

Very pleased with this monitor. Matt not shiny. Bright, clear nice 1920X1080 resolution. Haven't tried it on DVI yet. Could do with better instructions re physical setup ( I wall mounted so had to remove the stand. Quite easy but zero instructions for it). Really fast delivery.

Obviously with this being a somewhat cheaper TN panel, don't expect perfection. TN will always be inferior to TFT technologies such as IPS, but this comes close. Viewing it side by side with a 24" Dell IPS panel, there is not much difference - so long as you view from the right angle.

The stand is flimsy; I was scared I was going to break the plastic when adjusting the tilt. There is a small plastic cover that snaps onto the tilt hinge, that came off on my first try to adjust it.

The speakers might as well not exist. They are hidden up at the top of the monitor, where the hot air vents out. Speaking of hot air, the sound from the speakers might as well just be farts. Forget they exist.

Make sure to calibrate the colour, mine came with god awful looking colours, but some tweaking here and there in the menu and I was good to go. The menu isn't as terrible as some other's I've seen, and it gets the job done.

Pros: All in all I am quite satisfied. No dead pixels, the image is one of the best TN images I've seen (so long as you calibrate!) and the response time is very good. Gaming is quite nice on it.

Cons: Flimsy stand, the monitor wobbles alot on my desk when under heavy typing. Speakers are terrible. It accepts VGA and DVI in, though curiously only a VGA cable is supplied.

Overall, 8/10. The image, considering it is a TN panel, is 10/10.

Bought this to replace my Digimate 19 inch 4:3 TFT. This is great, large screen, great on max resolution, I'm going to mount on wall eventually. Easy controls via OSD, although the auto adjust worked just fine. At this price, snap one up quick.
