Pure quality
operating system:
Windows 7These days a lot of manufacturers make bold claims about quality and performance but when this Gigabyte arrived the quality was apparent. I've owned a range of motherboards over the years and this is my first Gigabyte board. This board is very easy to set up and use, the bios features are extensive and the performance is good.
The layout is good for a matx board, nothing is obstructed or over awkward.
The overclocking abilities are quite good, the bios offers you a lot of control and Gigabyte also provide you with the easytune desktop software. I'm currently running custom memory timings without a single problem, you can control everything.
I would recommend Gigabyte boards to everyone now, the quality is exceptional. After years of MSI and asus (the worst by far) this is a major step up.
In response to the comment on memory voltage, you can run your memory at 1.5v, 1.7v or 1.9v. Hope this helps.
Quad core on the cheap
operating system:
Windows 7This is now my 2nd Gigabyte board as I was so impressed with the 1st. Not disappointed with the quality.
I got this with an AMD 550 black edition (quickfind code: 166518). Updated to latest BIOS and unlocked for a cheap quad core system. Overclocked to 3.4Ghz using simple multiplier increase. Cooled with an AC Freezer 7 Pro which required the bottom corner of the fan assy to be cut to clear the memory.
System has now been running stable for a month.
Great motherboard for a HTPC
operating system:
Windows 7I bought this motherboard as it had an integrated graphics and sound card and had HDMI out and SPDIF to plug into my Onkyo 607 AV Receiver.
The board itself is well laid out and seems to be of good quality. The board supports Away Mode which is useful for a HTPC.
I placed this board into an Antec Fusion Remote Veris Black case and used a Coolermaster 460W eXtreme Power Plus PSU and it's fine.
I've found that I can output audio via the HDMI out which is great as I'm planning to ditch the SPDIF and let my amp just use HDMI, however I am having trouble enabling 5.1 surround in this mode (it's fine using Optical out however). I'm hopeful I'll get to the bottom of this so I'm not deducting a star - as I can still use SPDIF if not.
I cannot recommend this enough if you are looking to build a Home Theatre PC.
Which Memory?
Can you use 1800Mhz 1.9v or does it have to be 1.5v?
