Excellent Bit of Kit
os:
Not ApplicableThe is a superb bit if kit for adding a printer to a network - would recommed it to anyone. Very simple to set up, the only time i had a little hastle was when using very old win 98 p.c and just rebooted and all was fine.
The supplied software it very easy to install and use - just follow the wizards and it does it all for you.
only slight down side is the size of the power supply that comes with it. It has a huge plug and not very long cord, but not really a problem at all - just being picky
Netgear products rock

Windows 2000I had an Axis server before this. Boy what a pile cr*p!
About 5 minutes after unpacking this thing, and I was printing. It was a breeze to configure, and a joy to use.
easy peasy
os:
Windows XPCouldn't believe how compact the unit was. I had it up and running and printing from 3 PCs[xp pro and 2 x win98] on an Origo router in 30 minutes.
The software is clear and intuitive, and works first time.
RECOMMEND THIS

Windows XPEcho comments below. Very easy to set up - just follow the instructions. I have it working with XP, Windows ME and an hp deskjet 5652.
One small point - if you have any features (eg duplex unit) which need to be recognised by the driver, then the printer needs to be installed using USB and then re-assigned to the print server. Netgear FAQs could be a bit more detailed.
Does exactly what it says on the box

Windows XPOrdered this to share a DeskJet 1280C for a small open plan office using Citrix. I can't fault it at all, works perfectly with Windows 98 and XP clients and not found any problems using it via the Citrix terminal client. Build quality is excellent the manual is good and installation is very easy. 5 stars. :-)
I had no problems! works like a dream.

Windows XPI was a bit dubious about buying this after reading some other comments on here... but I have had no real problem, and am glad I trusted the Netgear name and bought it anyway.
I am using it on an old HP Laserjet 4+, which allready had a JetDirect card in it, but I had no idea how to set that up! so thought I would give this a try.
I did have a few teething problems, a couple of off and on cycles of the printer and all is fine, no problems in the week of hard use its just had.
Had no problems with XP firewall, like others have mentioned.
Very good, perhaps they've fixed the overheating now.
os:
Windows XPI got this and it runs only slightly warm. It latches directly onto the back of the printer centronics port, but needs a typical three pin power adapter which rather messes up this otherwise neat solution. Why can't they have a PSU that plugs into the three pin kettle socket in the same way? Anyway, easy to set up. Didn't bother with the CD, just found its IP address from the DHCP, then added it as a TCP/IP printer port, with generic network card, and pointed the existing printer setup to it. Printing in no time!
Good Item - problem with XP
This is a good product and worked fine in the end, however Netgear have a known issue with this and Win XP Firewall. You cannot have the firewall on-line as the printer will be blocked out and the site has no known solution apart from switch off the firewall or buy their software. For this I can only give it 4 stars.
Very good!

Not ApplicableNice little print server! Easy to install..just one problem that I had..if you have a epson printer you have to start the port name with PSTN: apart from this a really good print server!
Good Product but Ultimately Unreliable
os:
Windows XPI am a big fan of Netgear products especially their routers, switches and NICs. Many of my clients have used their kit for years with few if any problems. However, this is the only Netgear product to really disappoint as mine packed up after a year of light business usage. The device is very easy to setup and worked fine in both XP and Linux but just ultimately unreliable. It did run very hot so maybe this is the problem.
