Mouse replacement extraordinaire.

Logitech Trackman is the Mouse replacement extraordinaire.
If it had a recharging feature then it would be the ULTIMATE pointing device to use.
I am a heavy user often 24 hours at a stretch and I am currently on my second Trackman supplied by Ebuyer.
As soon as I rested my hand on the device I knew it was mine, well I would HAVE to get one but not at the price at retail outlet where I was ‘resting my hand’.
Because the Trackman does not have to be moved around you can sit with it resting in your lap or on the arm of your chair, as well as the more usual place.
It is really easy to maintain by popping the ball out using the blunt end of a pencil or something similar, then loosening any build up around three bearing points with a finger. If you have not done this for months you may need to use a fingernail to loosen the build up, then simply blow into the socket to remove the debris and pop the ball back in. The whole operation takes all of 20 seconds.
Cleaning is required only due to the fact that you cease to worry about the cleanliness of the surface you are operating from. In consequence it is subjected to situations which a mouse user would have to rectify by dusting or cleaning a surface or pad before deploying it.
How long would a mouse continue to function satisfactorily if it were skated about over fabric?
I can move the cursor from one side of a 17.5 inch screen to the other in one movement, top to bottom of the screen just as easily. One movement of the thumb can take the cursor in a smooth controlled movement almost from the top right Red Cross [close] to the bottom left Start buttons.
The cursor can be wirelessly controlled from a distance, say sitting viewing distance when watching a TV program in full screen mode it is possible to change channels using the on screen controls.
The shape of the Trackman exactly fits the shape of my palm and is totally supportive, in a natural manner, to the whole hand which enables much longer use compared to a mouse.
The cursor movement being operated by the thumb, of the right hand, is extremely controlled and precise allowing the pointer speed to be set toward the higher end of the scale.
The First and Index Fingers of the right hand rest on the left and right click buttons with the Scroll Wheel between them, the latter acting also as a Button and is very useful when scrolling long documents and web pages.
Unfortunately the design does not accommodate Left Handed users.
Trackman is robust and mine needs to be because it gets knocked to the floor on a fairly regular basis.
Given the longevity of the design Logitech obviously got it exactly right offering reliable and consistent smooth controllability, don’t hesitate to buy.

This mouse has a good feel to it and works out of the box. Dont bother with the CD if you have XP.

I wondered how long it would take for me to get used to this type of mouse, total time was ONE second. It is far better than a normal mouse. And once you've had this type of mouse you wont go back!

Only thing I would like to see on it is 2 extra buttons (I use them alot for going forward and back in IE).

Though we've a little more room these days we both got used to these when we had a tiny house which really didn't have room for a mouse! They're smashing - unlike so many other really stupid designs this one uses your thumb to control the ball, which is only natural.
The only tiny niggle is that the previous version had the buttons slightly further apart which meant you could use three fingers nicely even if you have fat fingers like mine.

I cannot fault this device. I have had mine for several years and have worn the left button out from continual use but i shall be buying another one very soon. You can put it on your lap or wherever, great for music and dvd playback when sitting back from the screen and no more aching wrist. This is whithout a doubt the best pointing device i have ever used.

Had the mouse now for about 2 months and all i can say is WOW! a got it shortly after gettin my new computer and discovered a normal optical mouse dosent work well on a bed. setup for this item is nil took it out of the box and pluged it in and i was away. it took a little time to get used to it about a week but once you have you'll end up buying more i now own 3, 1 for home, one at the office and one at my girlfriends. it feels great in the hand and well built also the battery seems to last for ages i've still got the origional battery it came with in it and its still going strong. just one thing from time to time pop the ball out and clean the little rollerballs to keep it running smooth. highly recomended

Top Class Mouse

I have had to replace my other Logitech Trackman.

Which didn't bother me too greatly as I had my other one for over 5 years, yep 5 years, and not once did it let me down.

The only reason I had to replace my other one was because I threw it at the wall in frustration, I was getting pwned by someone on Counter Strike, lol.

I used my other Trackman on a daily basis for upto 8 hours per day.

This is exactly the same as my other Trackman and I can see this lasting for another 5 years, if not more.

This is a great mouse and the difference it makes in playing FPS games is a good advantage over a laser/optical mouse which has to be moved around the desk.

Works right out of the box with Windows Vista 64-Bit. There is also 64-Bit configuration software available for download from the Logitech website, but to be honest you don't really need it.

Buy one, you will love it.
