Great Ram - But don't buy it from here
review by: Timothy Elgar os: Not Applicable

Crucial are great. So... go to their site and buy this ram direct for about £2 less with free NEXT day delivery instead of Ebuyer's 10day lead time for super-saver option to qualify for their free del.

I've cancelled two orders recently and gone elsewhere because of Ebuyer's insane lead times and del charges.

Like I say - this exact same product is available from www.crucial.com/uk for cheaper and with free next day del.

SHAME ON YOU EBUYER

I have just fitted 8 sticks of this memory to ASUS boards(which can be a fussy board for memory) and have all worked fine.

I bought this memory for my A7N8X which is said to be really picky on memory, and well it work just fine. Great deal for the money.

Be aware - Crucial's support is freephone and excellent. I am really, really impressed.

I've had (solveable) problems with this memory in an A7N8X Deluxe at 400MHz in Dual Channel Mode. Single channel, no problems. 333MHz, no problems

Running:

Processor: AMD 2800+ @ 333 MHz
Memory: 2 X 512M modules at 400MHz in Dual channel mode

You only see the problems if you run high-spec games such as UT2004 or stress-testing tools such as Prime95. Under windows you see no errors in normal useage.

Crucial reccomend these settings this memory:

Active Precharge Delay: 7
RAS to CAS Delay: 3
RAS precharge Delay: 3
CAS Latency: 3T

I've tried 2 sets of 2*512M memory, both failed stress testing at these settings, in under 10 minutes

After much testing the memory is totally stable in my board at:

Active Precharge Delay: 7
RAS to CAS Delay: 3
RAS precharge Delay: 3
CAS Latency: 2.5T

This is FASTER!

This is RAM is excellent. I've tried many different brands including the Ebuyer home brand. This is the best. I will not be buying anything else.

High Quality - Low Cost

I've just bought 2 sticks of these for my new rig and it's run like a dream so far. Personally though I think unless you benchmark the hell out of your PC then memory is memory as long as it's working and not causing crashes and problems. I tried to run the 2 sticks in dual channel mode but suffered from several lock ups and BSOD. I guess you really do need an EXACT match when it comes to dual channel. I guess that's why it costs quite a bit more. Anyway nothing to worry about as dual channel doesn't show any noteworthy performance increase over single channel. Especially when you weigh up the cost difference.

Crucial is not the absolute fastest RAM available. If you want that buy Corsair. But you'll pay the premium for it and once again I think it's really only for the serious overclockers. If you want some good quality highly compatible fast RAM thats very stable at stock speeds then this is what you need.

Ok for ASUS A7V600
review by: Tim Wilson os: Not Applicable

This module is actually manufactured by Micron part no MT16VDDT6464AG-40BC4 and IS recommended by ASUS and works fine.Note to the other user that had problems the AMD XP2600+ only operates at 333mhz bus so it will crash if you set it to 400mhz!
