Windows XPI couldn't be more satisfied with my latest buy from ebuyer. It came sooner than expected and I fired it into my machine within 2 minutes.
The primary reason for buying this was to hook up my Sony camcorder and record my DV tapes onto DVD. It plugged straight in with no problems, no need for loading drivers as I'm on XP, and after connecting with the supplied cable I was streaming video within minutes of opening the packet.

Not ApplicableWell it does exactly what it says. It's a PCI Firewire card. Needed one to put into my Win98 PC so I had to choose carefully as Win98 is a dying operating system these days.
This card is manufactured to a high standard, as I would expect from a Belkin product and went straight into the PC with no problems.
Drivers worked first time, could not have been easier and performs very, very well when connected to my Maxtor 250Gb external hard disk drive and DV camera.
I'm going to upgrade to XP soon so I guess this card will perform even better for me in the near future.

Firstly ebuyer, no problems straight forward ordering and delivery as stated.
Secondly Belkin, a reputable company who offers a lifetime warrenty on their items, and having used many, i can guarantee their reliability, as i have never had a faulty or failed item from them.
The included installation booklet provides easy installation instructions of the card with step by step photographs, and full details of installing the drivers for windows 98, 2000 and ME. No need for drivers with XP, simply plug in and restart and your done....... real easy.
Software is supplied with the card in the form of Ulead Video Studio 5.0, and a screened 4 - 6 pin Firewire cable is provided. Without any problems i transfered footage from the DV camcorder to PC within minutes, 36 minutes without a single dropped frame, so am i satisfied......... VERY !

I was looking through other cards but when i saw the review above of someone buying to hook up to a Sony camcorder i thought i better go for this tried & tested one. No Software needed truely a plug & play card. The firewire leads looks so robust and I'm sure it would last for years. All in all working in under 3 mins flat. I would definetely recommend this firewire card and since I have had it i've transfered loads of footage to my PC and from my PC using Avid & Adobe..
plug and play way hey
Well is it me or have computers finally achieved the gold standard of true plug and play, eithr way, approx 5 mins from packet opening to installed and working... Not 3 bad. Even seems to do what I wanted it for. So 5 stars from me. Does come with a 4 pin to 6 pin connecting wire which customer services were unable to tell me
jvc camcorder

Windows XPBought this from e-buyer. Up and running in 10 minutes.I'm using a jvc camcorder, no problems. It could be made clearer that the card comes with a supplied cable.
External Firewire/Usb boxes
I have one of these and it is a Texas Instrument controller. It works fine with the Ipod but if you have a external hdd case that is using the Prolific PL-3507 then dont plug it in, you will be guaranteed to corrupt your hdd - best bet for the Prolific PL-3507 is the Via or Nec controller firewire card which i havent had any problems with.
