Resolution limit
os:
Not ApplicableDoes the job well enough but monitor resolution needs to be on 800 x 600 maximum otherwise tv picture is very distorted. Read instructions during setup as sound o/p from PCI card needs to be linked to line in on PC sound socket using cable provided. Easily missed first time round by numptys like me who race through without looking at instructions! Otherwise works fine and good value.
Good Value

Not ApplicableIf you just want to watch TV on your PC, then this is great. No need to pay more! All the other goodies, such as PVR, work well, but as it only has mono sound, it isn't much use for a entertainment PC.
Be careful with some motherboards

Windows XPGot this working fine now and have a lovely picture fed of the sky box. At first I had awful interference. Tried the card on another machine and it was fine. Emailed Hauppauge and they told me to change the following settings.
Open "Primary" (Primary is an application that is bundled with the software)
Then tick "force primary"
After I did this the pic was lovely and clear
I have an AMD64 3000 with a MSI Via Motherboard
Good Stuff

Windows XPWorked out of the box, detected all of my channels straight away. The software installed fine but moving between the win2000 and win32 kept messing up the sound (mono to stereo and vice versa). This messed up the recordings as the card only supports mono.
Good programmed recordings, clever but limited mpeg editor.
Works with Showshifter.
Input through s-video from freeview digibox is clear as a bell. Output though GFX card onto TV works a treat as a live TV (my TV is mono anyway, but sound through PC speakers or HIFI has a good effect).
Good for the money

Windows XPInstallation of this went *fairly* easily, though the good old 'use the drivers on the disk or download newer ones' syndrome arised and made a bit of a mess of things...
Nevertheless, once it was up and running I must say I was fairly pleased with the picture quality. It is nothing outstanding given there is no s-video socket, and I have zero luck with tuning anything into the aerial socket, so I have to be content with composite which is, of course, not that great for quality. But it is basically acceptable and pretty good for the price.
Only drawback is that with particularly vibrant scenes, the composite system struggles and the picture ends up very murky and lacking clarity.
However, overall, for the price, it's pretty good.
Excellent value
This card has to be a bargain. OK the picture & sound quality could be better, but for just watching on your PC its great! The only problem I had on set up was no sound, I had fitted lead to line in socket but after reading instuctions found that my computer default had the line in set to mute.
Compatibility problems with VIA chipset
If you buy this card, be careful to check the technical support on the Hauppage website first. Some of the Hauppage cards are not compatible with the VIA chipset (and other chipsets) (on the Motherboard) without doing some software / bios upgrades first. Potentially that involves flashing the Bios. Not for the beginner.
I have spent hours trying to install my card without success.
WARNING for Vista 64
Anyone who is planning on buying ANY Hauppauge TV or PVR card, there is NO 64bit drivers.
Accroding to Hauppauge forums, there are no plans either.
So if you have Vista 64, either buy a different make of wait and wait and wait.
What sockets are on the back of it?
I would like to know if it has a UHF lead socket and what is the radio quality like?
freeview???
Does this tv tuner pick up freevieew channels ???
