Top Network MP3 and MPEG2 and JPG Player from the WinTV People at Hauppauge
os:
Windows XPThis product is truly amazing. I'm about to order one myself - I was lucky enough to try it at a friends house yesterday.
It's really amazing that you can stream all this content MP3 MPEG1/II JPG from your PC via 10/100 network to the TV and control it all from the comfort of the TV in the lounge.
I've got a TV card in my PC and am recording lots of TV programs to HDD - it will be so great to be able to watch all this recorded stuff on my TV set. All the movies I've downloaded via broadband to my HDD are just gagging to get onto my TV set.
Top recommendation!!!

Excellent box get a pvr250 and gbpvr and you can freevio
os:
Windows XPIf you team the MVP box up with the free pvr software GBPVR http://www.gbpvr.com you have an excellent system, vastly superior to the hauppauge supplied system.
Buy a hauppauge pvr250 tv tuner card + the Mvp and with gbpvr you have the equivalent of a tivo or sky+ type system but no subscriptions to pay !!!!

MVP Can Stream DVD
os:
Windows XPExcellent piece of hardware, supplied software good if simplistic.
To realise the full potential go to http://www.gbpvr.com/ check out the compatible TV/Capture cards choose and purchase preferably one of the Hauppage options. Download and install GBPVR
Go to http://www.gbpvr.com/pmwiki
Install the XDVD plugin and requirements
Voila it is possible to stream your holiday dvds etc you recorded to your hard disk.
Other plugins allow other functions to be available on the MVP e.g weather.
If you Know visual basic/C+ add your own.
When satisfied with the result please donate to the development team....As this is freeware.
For the guy with the 42" Plasma

Windows XPHi,
I have a similar setup at home, and I use my server to store all my MP3s and MPEG movies I download from the internet - A PROPER HOME ENTERTAINMENT SERVER system.
Works GREAT and the picture quality is RGB quality which is the same as DVD.
Great bit of Kit
I have had one of these for about 6mths and initially it was good being able to stream MP3 and MPEG.
There is however a new version of software out (albeit Beta at the moment) which enables it to play WMA, DivX and Internet radio.
This has made it a truly great product. The Beta is a bit buggy at the moment but works ok and it will, i'm sure be out soon as a full release.
Well done Hauppage!!!
Wicked
This is absolutely wicked! I plugged it all together, installed the software and was up and running in about 10 minutes.
It has a native SCART connector (which is best for most UK TV's) with superb quality.
BEST OF ALL it supports DIVX out of the box...
Great

Windows XPThese little beasties are great. I bought 5 of them a little time ago - placed them all over the house. One hooked up to the TV in the living room, one in each of the bedrooms - and one in the pool room. We have all our music and DVD's ripped into XViD (better than DiVX in my opinion), and its super.
Admitable, any more than 2 people playing a movie at once makes the server a bit ugly, and it doesn't cope very well. But is okay most of the time with 2 (recently had to upgrade)
The video is played on server-side, so I can't see a reason why VOB playing couldn't be implemented in the future, that would be great. Save on some decoding time!
These are highly recommended gadgets, and as always - Hauppauge stuck to the same box design, and it's exactly the same size as their (equally great and cheap) freeview box's, and all their other tools.
This is a very good piece of kit for the price

Windows XPI've had one of these for a few months now and I've got to say I'm very impressed. It DOES play DIVX movies ( you need to go to the hauppauge website and download the latest software, all Hauppauge's devices are now DIVX compliant!) There are only a couple of things, it's not wireless( can be if you're prepared to use a wireless bridge or games adaptor and configure it) and the GUI is a little basic for some people(I've personaly grown to like it). In reply to a question above, the MVPs that are supplied in the UK have a scart connector on them, not like the one in the photo. All in all a very good piece of kit that works straight out of the box. I'm going to be buying more and plan to use some at work.
Use as front end for MythTV, ReplayTV, SlimServer and more.....!!!

LinuxAmazing device for the money. Replace the firmware with MVP Media Centre - http://www.mvpmc.org/
Native support via HTTP, NFS, and CIFS:
Audio - mp3, ogg, wav, ac3 and flac
Video - mpeg1, mpeg2
Images - jpg, bmp, png
Directly supports MythTV, Replay TV, and Hauppauge PVR.
Access a streaming server with transcoding capability (directly supports SlimServer and VLC) to play virtually any Audio / Video.
Great option if you (want to) run a Linux based PVR / media server. Will be buying more of these!
The easiest of setups

Windows XPI took it out of the box, connected it to my ethernet hub, connected it to my TV and plugged it in. It took about 30 seconds to check itself out, find my GBPVR (http://www.gbpvr.com) server and log on. Within minutes I had tested live TV, recorded TV, MP3 music library and JPG pictures. I didn't even have to install the supplied software since GBPVR supports the MVP out of the box.
