This product worked perfectly within seconds of plugging it in. I was transfering music to my iPod within another few seconds.

I bought this to connect my firewire external DVD burner to my IBM lappy, and it worked without a hitch.

Installation in WinXP was a doddle - plug in, and use :-)

The firewire connectors are full-sized six-pin connectors, which is a pain for me as I have numerous 4-6pin cables but just one 6-6pin one. It also means that the card sticks out from the laptop by 3cm or so.

All in all an excellent little gadget, at an unreasonably low price.

Worked within 30 secs of plugging into my ageing Compaq laptop, running win xp sp1. Haven't tested speeds, as the laptop itself wouldn't allow maximum throughput, but i'm perfectly happy with this card.

A firewire for £11.74...need I say more?
Was instantly recognised and works perfectly.
It does not fit flush with the side of the port. The black bulbous area containing the firewire connections sticks out. No problem, I only plug it in when I need it.

Perfect!

I bought this card specifically to connect my new 40Gb iPod clickwheel to my laptop. Having spent a week tearing my hair out and spending a lot of time getting suggestions from iPod chatrooms I simply could not get my laptop to see my iPod as anything other than a hard disk using the ebuyer combo Firewire/USB 2.0 card. THIS card worked with my iPod within a minute of plugging it in. iPods DO work with USB 1.1 by the way but slower.

Plugged this into HP note book & device manager recognised it ok. Then I connected SONY DV camcorder in using supplied cable & in wasn't recognised. So I used my existing cable which I bought from ebuyer last year (Sony i-Link Data Transfer Cable 2 Metres (6pin-4pin) fast find code11466} & now it works. MARVELLOUS!!!!!

PCMCIA firewire card

Eventually, after twice wrongly sending a pci firewire card, I recieved this PCMCIA version today. What makes this card such great value is the fact that it has a 12 volt input socket (separate transformer needed) so thet the card will work with devices that need to be powered. I have a Sandisc CF reader that needs to draw power from the firewire port, so this would not work with some of the other cards that are not powered. Easy to install, and very good value
