Excellent value for an A4 duplex scanner

This scanner is excellent value. It has an automatic document feeder that scans one or both sides of paper up to A4 size. There is confusion about paper sizes in some of the comments. This is because you cannot automatically scan both sides of the larger US letter size - you have to turn the paper over manually, but what does that matter in the UK? There is a transparency adapter included. Setup was easy and I had the scanner working within minutes. The bundled Presto! PageManager 7 software and the Readiris 8 OCR software are very good, but you need to manually register Readiris with PageManager (easy). Readiris sees that you have scanned both sides and OCRs both sides - great stuff. Get one ... you know you want to!

Superb piece of kit at an affordable price. I had hesitated on this one for some time as I wasn't entirely clear from the product literature that it could in fact scan A4 duplex. For ordinary paper with typical margins, it works a treat. Easy to install and set up. Works great with ABBYY FineReader 8. Am running with 1 MB RAM.

Save yourself a bit of time by avoiding doing what I did! I left a sheet of paper on the flatbed and wasted three hours looking for a software solution because I couldn't get recognition through the flatbed. The simple solution to this problem is to remove any paper from the flatbed before using the ADF!!!! My fault, not HP's.

I would give this machine 10/10.

Hp Scanjet 5590 2400dpi Flatbed Scanner
review by: Kenneth Brown os: Windows XP

I'am thinking off buying one of these found by www.kelco.co.uk cheapest price found by them.
also ordered from Ebuyer before.

Regarding the paper size A4 is 8 1/4 By 11 3/4 INCH

This can scan in at Maximum paper size (8.5 x 14 inches) (One sided scanning)..

(8.5 x 12 inches) (Two sided scanning)..

GOTO HP.com for this info just look :-)

Flatbed ADF vrs. AIO ADF
review by: Anonymous os: Windows XP

We need a scanner for the office which can convert multiple pages from paper to electronic format.

Clearly we need one with an ADF.

But tell me,
what would we be better off with,
a stand alone Flatbed ADF Scanner or
an All in one printer/scanner/fax with ADF

i cant help but think the AIO would work out better value for money.
