BRILLIANT PRODUCT
os:
Windows 2000these are 5.25 drivebay quick release caddys with two fans and a lock-bought three for a gateway tower with 9 hd's, slight heat issue ! now the three drives which are in these are effectively cold, which is a massive inprovement on what they were before, they were physically HOT before, only very minor complaint was having to neaten the position of the wires to the front fan so that the drives would sit flat without the cables being pushed out the bottom of the caddys, not a complaint for 4 quid!-take the time to fit them well and theyre perfect - nuff said :-)
Great Product - Pity they can't survive the shipping process!
These are great and I've found them to work exactly as expected. However, I have now received three from Ebuyer and all have been broken on arrival, with the lugs that hold the drive tray in place broken off.
This is clearly down to Ebuyer not bothering to package them in anything more than a polythene bag, so should be easy to overcome in future.
However, it's now a week since I contacted Ebuyer to let them know that the goods were damaged on arrival, but the matter is still 'under consideration' by their management team. The product is great, but so far the service leaves a lot to be desired!
QC label over contacts
os:
LinuxTwo of the units I bought failed to work out of the box. This was due to a tiny 'Quality Checked' label being placed on the contacts of the caddy connector. Due to the size, colour and position label it was not obvious when glancing over the product to fault find.
Also the bay protrudes by about 3mm from the case front and other drives.
Despite this the product is very good for the money. Recommended.
Disconnect the Fans
os:
LinuxThese are great caddies. Not the last word in quality but at this price well worth it. I bought 3 so I can hot swap data drives in my Linux box. Can even use to swap between windows gaming platform and linux for serious stuff.
The fans go noisy after a short time but they are not needed in a well ventilated PC so just unplug them from new.
Two Small Problems
Fantastic little boxes and for the price.
The case is a little longer than a standard CD/DVD so make sure you have the space without hitting the motherboard.
The fans are a 'bit' noisy on some units, I bought 5 and two are noisy. I'll try the 100ohm in series resistor idea.
Even with these minor problems it still worth five stars
Fantastic!

Windows XPthis caddie is amazing for the price! pc (rip off) world sell simeler caddies for £30 and this one is so much much better! it has 2 fans (a little noisy, but not bad) power and data led's on the front and a basic key lock with 2 keys. it comes with instructions, HDD lables and a full set of screws! it slides in and out like a dream and theres a little dust flap that comes down when theres no drive inside. it has holes drilled all over for all differnt size drives, it says on the box it works with "HDD/ZIP/LS-120/MO/TAPE/SYJET" it fits nicely into a 5.25" drive bay and has a nice beigh front, which works well with most cases, however, it is quite long (longer that a CD drive) so if you have a motherboard directly behind your drive bays, that might be a problem (i managed to re-arange things) it is very easy to fit a HDD in, although the cables are a bit squashed at the back, but theve thought of that and put a foam protector on the PCB at the back. i bought 2 of these, and my only regret is that i diddnt buy more!
Ebuyer Hard Drive Hard Plastic IDE Caddy With 2 Fan + Lock
This is a great bit of kit, easy to fit & easy to use, to top it all its great value for money I originaly purchased 2 as I was sceptical of the build quality etc due to the low price but its excelent & I have just ordered another 4
Excellent Value!

Windows XPFor £4 you cant go wrong.
Solidly built.
Easy to install and set up. Using mine with a Maxtor 160 GB drive, in an external USB housing - bit tight fitting (had to modify the power connector in the USB housing), but works perfectly.
Also mutes the noise of the hard drive. However, on the other hand, the fans are a bit noisy. One of them (the rear fan) can easily be disconnected by pulling out the plug inside the caddy.
I will have to get some more of these to fit in the PCs!
Excellent Value for Money
os:
Not ApplicableIf you need to swap hard discs for any reason - test PC, backup, etc these are for you. They work and the price is great. HDD is a bit of a tight fit but it goes in.
They also come complete with screws for both the frame and caddy. Careful which screws you use as the frame requires 2 different types of screw in each side.
No appreciable increase in PC noise from the fans. If you do not want the fans, snip the wires!
It's worth buying plenty for future use as they are cheap as chips.
Great Product. Great Price.

Windows 2000At only £4 these are fantastic value for money. Buy at least two. They provide a quick and convenient way to swap a hard drive in a machine. I bought 6 and use them for variety of jobs. Backup data and remove to a safe place or another machine. Have different OS or have special set-up, I have one drive (OS) specifically for digital video. Not hot swappable, but I don’t need this feature. For anyone that does look at USB or 1394 solutions. A simply brilliant product.
