Excellent product

LinuxHaving bought quite a few UPS in the past, and having had every Liebert UPS die on me, I bought another APC one rather than another Liebert...
This UPS is excellent, and has a 3rd party Linux driver (apcupsd) available for free on the WWW. It works perfectly with USB on my Linux 2.6.14 Debian system. Controlled shutdown on pre-set battery levels, auto-restart, the works.
One caveat, however. If you want to use the APC PowerChute software, then only the Personal version is listed as working with this device. If you want to use the Professional version of the PowerChute software, which allows Master-Slave control of multiple PCs on the same UPS, then you must buy from the SMART-UPS range which is a little more expensive (e.g. Smart-UPS 750VA, QuickFind 63071, £128).
