Works with VMware ESX / ESXi 3.5

I bought a couple of these to use in some whitebox ESX servers. They're picked up and work fine in both ESXi and (the slightly fussier) ESX.

Also work well in Vista and W2003.

Came in a see through plastic container - no manuals, no CD

os: Windows XP

Came in a see through plastic container - no manuals, no CD, no cover, no box ... other than small label stuck on back of adapter, you wouldn't know what it was

Downloaded and ran PRO2KXP.EXE driver from http://support.intel.com/support/network/sb/CS-006120.htm

but Windows XP still didn't find it .. wonder if anyone has seen this..

Strange Intel says "Simplify installation and maintenance with Intel® SingleDriver™ technology"
on
http://www.intel.com/network/connectivity/products/pro1000gt_desktop_adapter.htm

since I have an existing Intel pro/100 adapter in the machine, so in theory this should have been picked up for this 2nd adapter

This price cannot be correct

This is a £15 adapter everywhere else (just Google it), so I don't this price of £650 is correct!
Hope this helps.

Intel 'Bulk' Designation
review by: Anonymous os: Not Applicable

In response to the earlier review stating that the card came with no packaging - this is what the 'Bulk' designation in the description means.

These cards, although identical to the retail version (QFC 79738), are intended for use by system builders & the like, who don't require manuals & driver discs or retail boxing - hence they are a bit cheaper than the retail version.
