Netgear WG111T

I have 3 machines and recently decided to wirelessly network them for gaming purposes. Choosing to keep things simple, I opted to use all the same components, I am using the Netgear DG834GT Modem/Router and have had no problems with the USB Adapter (WG111T) and 1 wired connection. In my opinion its worth paying a few quid extra for quality and easy of use.

WG111T working @ 108mb

Some people have commented about this adapter not working at 108mb's. There a couple of options that HAVE tobe be set to enable this.

1. Channel 6 MUST be used for 108mb connection
2. DG834GT Router must be set to allow connections for ONLY 108mb's! This is changed in the wireless options menu on the router.

I like this.

It did crash my PC when I first plugged in, but one reboot later everything was good and it has run flawlessly ever since. I think maybe to be on the safe side you should install the software, deny the reboot then manually power down, plug the thingy in then power up (maybe me being superstitious)

Although it is USB 2, it runs fine in my USB 1 slot.

Although it is capable of 108 mbps I have it connected to my 3com 54g wap and I get the full 54mbps even when signal strength is less than excellent, 2 floors up and 2 brick walls across from the WAP.

Shame there doesn't seem to be a linux driver available for it yet - the only fault I can find.

getting 118mps on both machines upstairs with

router on ground floor.

Tip: Install sopfware from CD BEFORE plugging USB cable in!

Much better than Linksys

I am very pleased with this adapter. It gets a 'Good' signal where the Linksys equivalent that I'm replacing couldn't get any. And that's using a Linksys router! Oh the irony... The connection speed never drops below 54 Mb per second, despite the adapter being on the far side of a metre thick stone wall. And as a bonus it works flawlessly with Vista. Woo!
