Good Value for Money

Agree with Brad on previous review.

Good points
Did'nt cut my fingers to shreds.
Front USB/Sound
Extra Fan
This is a smart little case for the money.

Bad Points
I don't like the bright neon blue front lights.
A bit like a boy racers customized Nova with wide wheels and neons.
no hard disk LED.

FOR THE PRICE IT IS A GOOD SOLID CASE

Good case, good price

I've used three of these cases in the last week for customers' PC systems and have been very satisfied. The front is definitely dark grey as the title says and not black as you might think from the picture, but it still looks fine with black DVD and floppy drives. Came with a little bag of screws included for fitting motherboard, HDD etc. - always handy - and I think the blue lights on the front look great, just would have maybe been a tad more useful had one been a hard drive light, not both on all the time. For the price though this is excellent - I just hope Ebuyer get some more in stock!

Power Light
review by: Rodney Ashby os: Not Applicable

I would like to add a hint regarding the power light on these models. What I achieved was to convert the light to a hardrive light. Cut off the molex connector, then cut back the insulation a bit from the wires, connect a spare jumper to them. You might solder the wires to the jumper if you have the expertise, but I just pushed them through and wrapped the bare wire round the jumper. Push it on to the HD LED pins on the motherboard. It's a bit fiddly, but you then have a nice bright indicator light for your HD rather than just showing the PC's on, which is bloody obvious anyway!

Excellent Value for under £20!

The board comes with a sticker right across the ram slots so you can miss the fact you have to reset the CMOS jumper. Installed as a replacement to an old MSI board and works perfectly with unbranded ram and an Athlon 1600. Software install was easy off accompanying CD and the link posted in the previous review works fine for the front panel header connections. For the price its excellent value for money!

The case is exactly as described and came with a small bag of screws, mounted 350w psu and plenty of space inside. As described in a previous review, I snipped the black & red wires from the Molex plug and soldered them to the hard drive pins on the board so now one of the blue lights flashes with hard drive activity, the other being constantly illuminated.

For the money the case is excellent value even if it does need a slight mod for the hard drive light.

No Hard Drive Light

Just got a couple of these cases for installation in a small local business. Needed to be smart, black, grey/silver to match other equipment.

First surprise on opening the case was to find the 80mm case fan (should have read the product info). Fan is installed with a 4 pin IDE power splitter.

Second surprise was to find there is NO HARD DRIVE LIGHT. Just TWO power lights. Yes I've checked that one of the lights isn't for the hard drive. There is no power or HD light connector for the motherboard. Just power on and reset switch. Instead of the typical MB connector there is a 4pin IDE power-style connector that you plug into any IDE power spare to provide power to the two VERY bright blue power lights. Guess that's why they are so bright. :shrugs:

Case is very smart externally. Smooth edges inside. 350 Watt PSU. The picture above is accurate. Black CD and black floppy drive look the part. Silver drives would look good too.

USB/mic connectors are on the SIDE of the case at the front on the lower right.

As picture illustrates there is a grill on the side of the case, right opposite the processor in my install. Nice, as the free fan at the rear can be moved easily.

In summary: Smart case, no hard drive indicator light, spare fan (fitted), 350Watt PSU, usefull additional grill, front/side USB connectors and VERY bright power lights.

Deducted star for lack of HD light. Needs one.

Just got this for my first home build and it looks pretty smart. As previously mentioned the front is grey but the black drives still look good in place. And yes for some reason the led lights are connected directly to a ide power connector, which leaves both lights on constantly, but if you cut the wires and attach them to some jumpers the can then be connected to the motherboard and then are not on constant

Blue LEDs - Blown!!!
review by: paul haynesrating:

I connected the blue LEDs to a spare power connector once the machine was built. Upon first power up there was a strong electrical smell so I turned the power off. Tried to locate the burning but could not, switched the tower on again and now the blue LEDs don't work!!!! I checked and made sure that I connected them properly but there's only one place you can connect them. Now I have a nice case but no lights at all!!!

I will have to customise the LEDS and buy new ones I guess.

Over all, for a budget case I am pleased with it but I deduct one star for faulty electrics!!!
