Good reliable RAM from a good reliable company, I have it running in dual with no problems, saving up to get this again and boost my system to 4GB.

2Gb is better than 1Gb...duh!
review by: Sam Sedgman rating:
customer rating
operating system: Windows XP

Installed these with no problems in about 10 minutes. Runs very well. Mainly play BF2 - SF and can see a vast improvement over my previous 1 Gb. They are a matched pair. When I exited the game with 1Gb the music would still play for another 30 seconds while showing the desktop, now it closes instantly. I decided to go with crucial because I was able to match the RAM to my motherboard so I knew that it would work and it was competatively priced. Order also came on the date it said it would. Highly recommend but do shop around for the best price.

Crucial Memory Advisor or generic? (or same thing?)
review by: Anonymous rating:

First off, Crucial is always my first choice when upgrading - you know you are getting a reliable, quality product.

The tools on the Crucial website are without doubt useful (both the Memory Advisor and the System Scanner will ensure that you end up with the right upgrade) but what you may not realise is that using these tools, every manufacturer/memory combination gives rise to a different product code - so Crucial may have dozens of product codes which are actually all the same generic product.

In my case I wanted 2GB (matched pair of 1GB) for a Dell Dimension 1100 and the Memory Advisor came up with product code: CT479378. However, if you navigate to the generic products using the Memory Upgrades links on the left of the home page and narrow your choice based on the CT479378 exact specifications you end up with product code CT2KIT12864Z40B (same as the manufacturer code of this eBuyer product). At the moment the prices on the Crucial site for both product codes are the same (but from what I read elsewhere, this is not always the case). The beauty is that eBuyer have the very same product right here at £25 less (inc Vat) and also free delivery.

One point to note if buying direct from Crucial is that they only guarantee compatibility if buying via the Memory Advisor and there's something about a restricted returns policy. But if you're buying through eBuyer, presumably we get the benefit of eBuyer returns policy.

If you have a different PC, I suggest you follow the same process using the Crucial website and see which generic code you end up with, then type that code straight into eBuyer's search box.

You have to respect Crucial's marketing guys!

Nice one
review by: Mitchell Wilson rating:

operating system: Windows XP

All I can say is "nice one". I put it in and it worked straight away. I even kept the original 512MB RAM in the PC, just added this stuff to it. I have been running it for about a month now and no problems. Speeds the PC up very well, especially noticable on startup, this is heaps quicker.
Dell Dimension 8300 P4 3GHz, 2.5GB RAM, WinXP Home, 2x200GB SATAHDD.
All in all a nice upgrade.

Reliable, reasonable priced memory.

I bought this rather than 2 x 1GB sticks purely to ensure I have a matching pair tested to work together for dual channel performance.

Best RAM by far...
review by: Anonymous rating:
customer rating
operating system: Windows XP

Have always used Kingstons to build all my previous systems, but at the price I bought these at last week (2Gb @ £93) I thought I'd give the Crucials a try. And boy what a revelation they are, slotted into my GA-KN8F-9 mobo easily and with my AMD skt 939 3700+ clocked to 2.5Ghz this thing flies through files... If you're after a cheap upgrade, then this will hit the spot. Next purchase is going to be a AMD skt 939 4200+ x2 - then this thing should really be buzzing.

PS
yes, I know skt 939's are old now, but if it ain't broke why fix it!?

I have this memory installed on an Asus A8N32-SLI board with an AMD X2-4200 proc.

Almost a year of totally reliable running now, no problems at all with XP, Vista, Windows Server 2003 and everything else I've run on that machine.

Top product, well worth the money.
