Max OSXVery easy to use, plug in and your ready to use. With a mobile phone, you will have to pair the devices just as you would when sending between phones. No cd installation required. Definately recommended. File transfer speed satisfactory.
Great little adapter for the price, full marks D-Link !....for once :-S

Windows XPComments towards the above people who've mentioned something about, not wanting to carry a cd around or operating it without a cd....just install the drivers and the software that comes on the cd, follow all the instructions, setup all the services you want, or possibly want, and that's it....no worries.
Once you've installed all the software, and you use exactly the same usb port all the time, you won't need to carry the cd along with you....but most sane people do carry copies of the drivers or software on their computers as a backup, just in case...hard drives are getting cheaper and larger for the price, what's the price of a few megs or gigs of space for your program installs on your hard drive, instead of carrying around all those cds and dvds ? Priceless.
Updated drivers are not easy to find, admittedly, the DBT-120 drivers are not the same and are older, to my knowledge anyway, I almost fell into that trap too ;-), but I have found this link to the dlink ftp server which provides everyone with some valid, up to date drivers.

That's it. I've done allsorts of tasks with this adapter and for I paid for it, well worth the money ;-)

Vista
os:
Windows VistaThis item works with Vista if you down load the drivers from the D-Link site first.
Very happy with this item.
Works great under Ubuntu Hardy 8.04

LinuxResearched before I bought it and have had no problems.
Have used it to get internet over gprs on the laptop, and transfer files to/from the phone.
Reliable little device
os:
Max OSXAfter reading the previous comment I though I would add my penny's worths.
I have used this device for over a year now with no problem. I carry it around with me and have had no trouble connecting to other machines, You do need the cd if you are connecting to a PC (which I don't do very often), But so far (as with most devices) I haven't needed any drivers with the Apple Mac's, It just works.
How fast is this?
IS this really a V2.0 (speed)Bluetooth Dongle, as the speed listed is only V1 (v1.2?) or is it sipmly V2.0 device compatible?
Requires CD to Install
os:
Windows XPI purchased this device primarily because I believed, based on the previous comment, that it was plug and play, "no CD installation required". However, this devices is not automatically detected by either Windows XP SP2 or Windows Vista Business. I wanted a portable Bluetooth device which I could take to any XP/Vista based PC and have it work without having to carry a CD around with me too.
Mac Idiocy
I purchased a DBT-120 from eBay and it stubbornly refused to work on any PC that I tried. After much grief I discovered that the Mac updates the firmware on this device when you insert it and this renders it permanently unable to work on a PC. I have no reason to expect that it would be any different with this DBT-122. Yeah, OK- it works on a Mac, but at what price? I have a DBT-122 now. It works but I cannot stand the bloated driver package on the CD. I call it HP disease ;
Not working
os:
Windows XPI again prchased this based on the first review but not only can it not be installed without CD but even though drivers installed when I try running program I get bluetooth device not found please insert device into usb port. I even get this with the installation CD. Tried on 2 seperate PCs with same result even with latest drivers from D-Link site.
To me its a waste of money and time.
