Needed a Cable router for my NTL service. Paired this with the Buffalo HP PCMIA Card. Set up was straight forward using AOSS.. just install the software on each PC, connect everything up, press AOSS button in the software. Wait a couple of minutes and away you go. Very powerful and neat set up. Well made and looks great. One very pleased customer... am considering a second HP PCMIA card...

BRILLIANT ROUTER

After reading multiple reviews of how apparently difficult it was to configure this router, i was a little anxious about setting it up. However, the 'setup' was a breeze. Simply by turning the modem on, followed by the router, and finally the PC, that the settings were automatically obtained. A few minutes later security was setup, and then it was down to the simple task of connecting my laptop to the router.

The power and speed of this router is amazing, considering i am not using a BUFFALO network card, and therefore not using the 125MBps turbo mode. My laptop is on a different floor to the router, and i get a constant 'excellent' signal.

The router comes with an option to change output power. Even on 25%, i still recieve a 'very good' signal, that occasionally chnages to 'excellent.'

I have a 4MB NTL broadband connection, and a speed test on my laptop displayed a download-rate of 3.7MBps.

I havn't flashed the router with any firmware yet, as im very happy with it as it is, and if it isn't broke don't fix it :)

This router deserves 5 stars for its excellent signal, speed and features.

Ebuyer deserve 5 stars for the price this is stocked at, and the on-time delivery, 4 days before Christmas, even when using City-Link, who have had a lot of critics on the forums.

Excellent value for money. I have installed 15+ of these over the last year and not one of them has caused problems (yet). Remarkable considering I used to install very expensive dlink and netgrear, draft N and super mimo routers all over the place and was constantly getting phone calls about poor signal, loss of signal, connection drops etc etc etc. These Buffalos seem very reliable and seem capable of operating 24/7 without over heating or faults developing, the reception is also fantastic for such a compact unit and rivals if not exceeds most draft n routers.

This is an excellent choice for a wireless router, the range if fantastic, reliability is second to none, installation and setting security was very simple, was unpacked, connected and working within 15 mins - also has the benefit of being able to change airels to increase performance / range for your needs.

Got it working

Right, after contact with Buffalo technical support line, I got it working. You MUST, and I mean MUST, power down your cable modem for a minimum of 2 HOURS before connecting the mode>router>PC. This is because your cable modem memorizes its connection with your PC, but after 2 hours its memory clears allowing it to establish a new connection with the router. Thx to their guys for this.

Now its working, top quality bit of kit, and the help from them bumps it up to 5 stars from me

I bought one of these a few weeks back, at first it kept losing the WAN connection then I sussed I had to power the NTL cable modem off for a while so it "forgot" the MAC of my old router. From then on it's been perfect, no dropouts, strong signal into the front room (through 2 walls). Flexible firewall too, I set up different torrent ports for my PC & laptop with no messing. I haven't bothered installing the AOSS s/w cos I know what I'm doing but for a newbie it would be very useful. Good web interface, although it has a great enthusiasm for resetting so there is a bit of a wait while you get things tweaked to your liking. Oh, and a trendy flat ethernet cable is bundled :0)

My only gripe is that I can't fit my high-gain antenna as the casing around the antenna connector fouls the rather fat base of my twig. But on the plus side I don't need it!

Altogether a 5-star package. Buy one!

got the buffalo airstation as a replacement for the linksys 54g rubbish which was on offer at 34 pounds, the linksys was pathetic and would randomly reboot every few minutes, signal strenth just 10 feet away was 40% at best, if it connected at all, The Airstation however has been brilliant, constant 125mbps connection, never once lost conection and is simple to set up a secure wireless conection in minutes, simply plug it in, switch modem on, swith airstation on and it was connected ,ran the cd on the laptop, inserted the pci card when prompted, pressed the AOSS button on the router, pressed the AOSS software button on the laptop and i had a secure wireless conection, signal strength is always good to excellent wherever i am in the house,we have never had a loss of conection, and the conection has never droped below 125mbps.(using the airstation high performance card in the laptop)

well impressed, highly recommended

Bought this on the strength of the reviews saying how easy it is to set this thing up.

and I must say I was not disappointed - I was expecting a nightmare after not knowing much technically, especially with all the trouble I had setting my modem up in the first place - NTL cable modem running via USB.

But I am well pleased with it - within 15 minutes i had the whole thing up and running and get a great reception from my laptop all around the house - simply followed the very clear instructions and everything just auto-set itself up, no problems.

Its a nice compact piece of kit, at the right price and I would recommend to all.

One thing to note though: If you are setting up from the same as I was (IE: you have NTL cable modem connected via USB), you will need an extra ethernet cable (LAN) to the one that comes with the router - although the techies probably know that i did not, but luckily I had a spare so it did not hold me up.

Also nice one Ebuyer - great all round

So Easy

Was looking to geat a wired firewall router, but this gives the option to go wireless when I need to.

Setup: Power down cable modem and PC for a couple of hours, or overnight. Plug modem in for a couple of minutes. Connect router to modem and power on for a couple of minutes. Connect to PC with included network cable and boot up. It works!

Use your web browser to setup router options, including turning wireless off if you don't currently need it. There is a simple options page, and an advanced options page. Firewall only checks incoming traffic, so a software outgoing firewall is also useful.

The manual doesn't explain what each option actually does, it assumes knowledge, but a few minutes of Googling can sort out most options. The default setup seemed pretty good.

Four cable outputs, high power wireless, Bufallo AOSS easy secure wireless setup for AOSS receivers, hardware firewall with packet inspeaction, AES high quality encryption for wireless security.

Excellent!

If you are running XP, make sure you update your wireless client package http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917021

I'm using this as a wireless bridge access point. It is as powerful as claimed. My old netgear ap gave me a wireless signal of low to very low, continually dropped out. The speed varied between 11 and 54 mbps. most of the time nearer to 11. The Buffalo gives me a consistant signal of excellent ( 100%) at 54 mbps around the clock with encryption. Tremendous.
I didn't find it quite so easy to set up. I used a wired PC to connect to the airstation, then crashed around the options for a while. At the other end I had difficulty connecting to the signal and used a utility other than the one provided to make the first connection. Manual pretty hopeless. Probably took me 45 minutes in all.
