Yes it does come with a driver CD. This card is extremely easy to set up. Plug it in, turn on pc, install software, restart!
If you have onboard sound like me, then you need to go to control panel, click on Sound, and change preferred sound device to "SoundBlaster".
I have had no problems so far. When I bought this card I didn't realise it has a Digital I/O on it, an added bonus! With the software provided you can use this soundcard for 2, 2.1, 4, 4.1, 5.1, 7.1 speakers.
The program on the CD has an equilizer, bass control, and lots of other cool stuff.
Cheap price for the good quality.
Well done again eBuyer!

Sorted at last!!!
review by: james cross os: Windows XP

I tried every driver on the creative website none of them would work!!!

I spoke to creative, they dont offer support for OEM cards, luckerly the chap said "I'm not busy, bear with me and we will see if we can get you sorted out"

BTW He also said that oem cards should come with cd's ebuyer shouldnt be selling them without.

He has given me a link to a post on the forum which points you to a website which hosts ISO files of ALL the OEM sound blaster cards

http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=soundblaster&message.id=25677

Read the post for instructions!

As for the card, its a wicked little card, no more feedback from the old on board sound, crystal clear!! Its also helped with the running of cubase!

To the chap who asked about the 7.1 surround, each output powers two speakers, download the ISO file there is a instruction manual on the cd.

Oh also on the cd you get creative audio convertor and player..... Enjoy!

OEM = Cheap container, 4 ports is all that is needed.
review by: Anonymous os: Not Applicable

Hi. To the guy that wondered why he recieved his card in an envolope...It is an OEM product. OEM (which is clearly seeable in the title of the product) means that the product will come in the cheapest available packaging...duh. Also, had you nothered to do a small ammount of research before you wrote a review which several people took as knowledge (check your reccomended rating), you would see that every sound card has 4 ports, specifically three ports for speakers, because 3 ports is all that is needed for any 7.1 speaker system. These ports are usually coloured orange, black and green. Anyone considering this card should definitly buy it if they are on a budget and do not mind some un-fancy packaging. V good for the price.

Well, it's a budget soundcard but those of us who have used Creative products over the years will probably be happier with this than a generic unbranded product. It's supplied OEM which means just the card in an anti-static bag and the driver CD. No instructions other than supplied on CD. However it does come with a good suite of Creative tools and the card does support EAX - an important feature for advanced gaming/sound.

In response to earlier comments there is a Creative Software Auto-Update facility installed which will look for updated drivers. I installed under XP, it's not clear if the card/drivers work under Vista.

However for relatively small investment it's a vast improvement on mobo sound and frees up CPU/mobo resources from powering onboard sound.

While not detracting from the overall score, should point out Ebuyer shipped mine by Royal Mail First Class, not City Link. Bit confusing to show a City-Link tracker on the account page with "First Clas" (sic) in the track number line.

I've just had a quick look on the Creative Website, and it looks as though this card's drivers are supported by Vista. If not, then you can download them from the website

I installed this soundcard after my built-in one died on me and to be honest with you, I wish it had died a long time ago as I am very impressed with the difference in sound. Not bad for someone who thinks sound is sound and it cant be much different but it sure does bring my music and sounds to life.

Onboard audio makes noise!!
review by: Anonymous os: Other

If you're trying to record LPs, Tapes or Minidiscs to your PC, you'll already have given up in exasperation at the high levels of background noise generated by PC components - even moving a mouse can cause crackles. Onboard audio chips are really hopeless and it's a constant surprise that mobo manufacturers don't stop including them. Even allegedly top-end audio chips suffer from machine noise interference. Add-on cards greatly reduce this, but don't entirely eliminate it, so open the sound mixer and mute every channel not in use. Adjusting the input and gain will help with the sound to noise ratio, set your play equipment to near maximum output volume to create the strongest possible input signal to play with.
