Kettles

For lifting and pouring, look for a kettle with a soft and ergonomically designed grip. An added safety feature on some kettles is an insulated body, which ensures the outside of the kettle stays cool enough to touch and helps you avoid scalding. A 360-degree base can be convenient for placing the kettle back in a hurry and a long length cord (over around 80cm) can be useful if your sockets are in awkward places.

For easy filling, choose a kettle with wide spout. A window on both sides of the kettle is perfect for left-handed users.

For speedy boiling, you'll need a kettle with at least 3kW of power. Think about what you need the kettle for, however. If it's just for you, then a smaller capacity kettle such as one with a volume of less than 1.5 litres is more suitable and will ensure your cuppa is ready a lot quicker!

Cleaning and maintenance is always a key consideration. A hidden element and removable lime scale filters and water filters all make washing easier.
