Binding machines and accessories

There are times when a paperclip or stapler just won't do. Perhaps you have a large report that's many pages long and day-to-day fasteners just aren't strong enough to hold the papers together. Or maybe you want to make more of a statement with a document that has been carefully bound.

Whatever the situation, binding materials come in a range of types, so there's sure to be an option that will work for your project.

Plastic comb binding is one popular choice, due to its ease of use and affordable nature. A device will punch holes in the sheets of paper, then it will open the comb for you to arrange the pages appropriately. Wire binding works in a similar fashion.

Thermal binders are also available – these use special covers combined with heat to hold the sheets together for a professional and seamless appearance.

Flipchart easels and pads

A common sight in most offices, boardrooms and meeting rooms, flipcharts are a simple solution for creating visual aids for a presentation or writing down notes during a team discussion.

Most flipcharts pads are provided in A1 size paper. Easels for holding the pads up are usually height-adjustable and can be easily folded up for simple storage or transport. They even include a pen tray.

Speaking of pens, if you're buying a flipchart and easel, be sure to also buy some markers to go with it – dark bold colours are usually best to ensure every word can be easily read, even from a distance.

Laminating pouches

If you have a document that you want to ensure lasts a long time – perhaps an informational sheet that you pass around, a sign or the pages of an often-referred to report – lamination could be the answer.

Laminator machines and laminating pouches are an easy way to cover papers in a layer of plastic, making the pages more sturdy and durable, as well as water-resistant. Pouches are available for a variety of different machines and they come in A3, A4, A5 and A6 sizes.

Whiteboards and noticeboards

A whiteboard can be a useful addition in a training or meeting room, giving the presenter a way to write down important information or even draw diagrams to clarify certain points.

If you're thinking about going high tech, interactive whiteboards are also available. These add an extra level to conference calls, as anything written on the board can be shared in real-time to anywhere in the world, and you can even record the entire presentation so that it can be replayed later on.

When buying a whiteboard, be sure to choose one that's the right size for the space available. You'll also want to consider purchasing dry erase markers, erasers and cleaning supplies. Many whiteboards are also magnetic, so some simple magnets might be useful too.

Meanwhile, noticeboards are a wonderful way to post messages for all members of your staff to see. Perhaps install one in the break room or near the tea and coffee station. You may want to get some pushpins or tacks to go with it.
