The Matrix is probably one of the most popular PC cases on the market today and a firm favourite for LAN Party attendees, The reason for the success of Chieftec Cases is the companies ability to cater for for their customers needs and give them what they want. This case gets its name sake from the slot and dot pattern in the case front. The slots are mainly for ventilation but they have a lot of aesthetic appeal as well. Cases can be lit with LED's or cathodes behind the slots. The front door has a lock on it so you can secure your CD/CD-RW/DVD drives, which are easily removable because of the screwless mounting system - they unlock and slide right out.
Behind the front cover, are four 5 1/4" bays and two 3 1/2" bays. The covers are very easy to remove and there are "scallops" on each side of the bay covers, so you can fit a finger in to pry them out easily, and without tools.
This case has 7 slots in the back, allowing it to accommodate just about any motherboard on the market today. It also comes with four screwless 80mm fan mounts - two in front and two in the rear. So, it would have a total of five 80mm fans when the power supply is mounted. This is enough to provide very adequate cooling for most systems. The fan mounts require absolutely no tools or screws! Just pop your fans in, and they are going no where! Chieftec has implemented a very nice fan retention system that works very well.
The Matrix is a very flexible case that can house everything from AT motherboards to dual CPU ATX boards. The optional large side window allows you to see most of the interior which is a very popular feature among Modders everywhere. The locking side panel is a very nice feature as well. You can opt whether to lock it or not, but the fact that it latches securely when closed means that you can do without the rear screws if you want to, which is a huge plus if you are in and out of your PC Case.
Chieftec is possibly the only manufacturer that has unique removable hard drive cages. They have locking latches that allow to you to quickly and easily remove the drive cages, making mounting and unmounting your 3 1/3" drives a very simple procedure.
One of the things hated most about PC cases is having to guess which wire goes where when they are not labeled properly. Fortunately, Chieftec kept it simple and clearly marks all wire harnesses, taking the guesswork out of the way.
