When it's breezy, hit it easy

Richard Walker and Wendy Copeland became the first mixed duo to win the annual Ebuyer Open golf tournament at the weekend.

Richard swapped his video camera for a 9 iron while Wendy showed that her buying skills are easily transferred to the putting green with some fantastic par displays to ensure the team run-out winners with 55 points.

The elements may have had a hand in the odd miscued shot or two but no one could take the victory away from the pair and everyone had a great day out at Boothferry Golf Club (www.boothferrygolfclub.co.uk) in Spaldington near Howden.

When quizzed about his team’s victory, Rich said: “When it’s breezy, hit it easy. We had some true British weather out there which had us in t-shirts one minute and full-on waterproofs the next but we managed to keep the ball in play and with Wendy hitting some great shots and saving par on several occasions, we made it through. See you on the tee next year”.

As well as the tournament, there were a number of special awards including:

Nearest the Pin – Ben Brown (Wren Photography)
Longest Drive – Phil Wordsworth (Product Manager)
Outstanding Achievement – Edison Deng (Business Partner)

We should also take a moment to recognise Chris Hall and George Marsellis for finishing last and therefore receiving the infamous wooden spoon award.
