I thought I’d do something a little different this week and introduce you to our photographer, Dan Howard.

Dan graduated from the University of Hull with 1st class honors, before becoming Ebuyer’s token photographer in September 2009.

Mr Howard is 26 years old and his favourite hobbies include 3D art, exercise and you guessed it…photography.

Dan claims his favourite food is Reese’s peanut butter cups and thinks his career highlight has to be seeing the Ebuyer advert he helped work on, aired on television for the first time.

Kit used in the studio:

  • Canon 50D with Canon IS 17-85mm 4 – 5.6 EF-S USM lens.
  • Nikon D3X with Nikkor 24-70mm 2.8 AF-s lens.
  • Elinchrom D-Lite 2 studio lighting kit.

And to finish with an interesting fact – since Dan started he has photographed over 350 products, and taken well over 3,000 product photographs, accounting for more than 81GB of imagery.

Look out for Dan’s equipment reviews and user tips in future posts 😀

  1. Hi Guys

@Krider2010: Great question. The reason we have a Nikon D3X and the Canon 50D is more a story of inheritance then anything else. The Nikon D3X was initially purchased for our sister company Wren Kitchens (www.wrenkitchens.com) for their photographic requirements (before I arrived). The D3X offers a massive 25mp sensor which was needed in order to pick up the large amount of detail in the shots of the kitchen bays. The 50D is solely used for product photos for the site and the D3X is now used for bigger corporate projects.

  3. Dave!!!

Great news on the laptop, be careful though, buying stuff from ebuyer gets addictive, my brand spanking new philips HD monitor arrives today. So excited!

  4. I really like the idea of introducing the ebuyer staff to the world, makes ebuyer less of a machine and alot more human.

I do some basic product shots for my online store, but that pretty much consists of a sheet of white paper, some natural sunlight and a compact camera.
