The Stanley Parable offered players the achievement ‘Go Outside’ if they didn’t play the game for five years when it launched on October 17 2013.
When the Stanley Parable launched on October 17 2013, it included the achievement “Go Outside”, which would be awarded to any gamer who didn’t play it for half a decade.
Now, five years since the game’s release the achievement can be claimed for the first time.
The game’s developer, Davey Wreden, took to Twitter to mark the anniversary.
And other users, including some who had been waiting to claim the achievement, joined in the celebrations.
The indie game began life as a free modification for Half-Life 2. The interactive storytelling game is played from a first-person perspective in the role of Stanley. No surprise there then.
Stanley is a data analyst who one day sees his computer screen go blank. he then gets up to explore his office only to find it devoid of other people.
The mod was remastered and released as a standalone game on Steam on October 17, 2013. It was critically acclaimed by reviewers and the wider industry.
Now with the achievement in the bag many gamers can go back to actually playing it.
