A gamer from Croydon has been awarded the accolade of having the ultimate gaming rig, following an Ebuyer national competition.

Creating your own gaming rig is a rite of passage for gaming enthusiasts, with fans looking to continuously build bigger and better setups to enhance their gaming experience. Rob Simpson’s Cyberpunk Night Dream setup was chosen by the Ebuyer team, not just for the impressive tech, but the grand styling.

Rob said: “Inside it’s rocking a custom watercooled AMD Ryzen 1700X, an EVGA GTX 1070, 32GB of Corsair LPX DDR4 RAM on an Asus B350-F Strix motherboard. For storage I have a 512GB Toshiba NVMe SSD for my OS, 512GB Crucial SATA SSD for my games, a 1TB Sandisk SATA SSD for my virtual instruments, which is all inside the Fractal Design Meshify C; and an 8TB external hard drive for all my music projects that I write.

“For my monitors I have an Acer 1440p ultrawide and an AOC 1080p monitor. Audio wise, I have a pair of M-audio BX5 D2’s going into my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, my headphones of choice are the Sennheiser HD650’s.

“I built my computer this September, as I had upgraded my case and motherboard – I’ve personally been building PCs for four years, as my course at university demanded I use something more powerful than a low end AMD laptop that I had had for two years at that point. I was really inspired by CyberPunk 2077’s trailer and gameplay for the wallpaper, and overall system and room lighting, and honestly can’t wait to play it, when it finally comes out!”

Other stand out entries included a Galactic Empire VS Jedi order inspired rig, a PC gaming setup Tri screen setup with surround function along with steering wheel and flight sticks, and a water-cooled mini-ITX system with an overclocked 8700k and gigabyte aorus 1080ti, that features blue lighting to give the feeling of cherenkov radiation.

Stephen James, Marketing Manager at Ebuyer said: “We were so impressed by some of the entries we received – it’s clear that British gamers really do take their rigs seriously. There is no better way to show your passion of gaming through investing the time to personalise your set up and enhance your experience. It was a tough decision but Rob’s attention to detail is what made him stand out from the crowd – we also loved his keyboard addition.

“If you have been inspired by our competition and are looking to start working on your own setup, we’ve created a handy guide on what you need to know before taking on the task of building your own rig”.
