The Death of Windows 7

Launched in 2009, Windows 7 has taken its last breath.

Okay, that may be a little dramatic. But if you’re like me you’ll be saddened by the news that support for Windows 7 has ended. This doesn’t mean that Windows 7 will just stop working but it does mean that it will stop receiving security updates thus making it more susceptible to malware attacks.

Turning its attention to Windows 10, Microsoft is focusing all efforts on its most recent release in order to offer users the best possible experience.

We Loved Windows 7

Over the last ten years, users have fallen in love with Windows 7 due to its simple and easy to use interface. As an update on Vista, Microsoft’s twenty-third OS was a big upgrade on its predecessor, offering a far more modern, user-friendly and streamlined experience.

The stats prove just how much we loved it, 90 million units were sold within the first six months. Windows 7 became ‘top dog’ after around two years, users had thoroughly warmed to the new OS and couldn’t imagine ever changing.

But all good things must come to an end. So inevitably Windows 7 has too.
