What is Software EOS?
EOS (End Of Support) refers to the phase in a products lifespan when the manufacturer no longer provides technical support such as updates, technical support and bug fixes. This can cause major security concerns for businesses and consumers as software vulnerabilities may not be addressed.
When is Windows 10 EOS?
Windows 10 will reach end of support on October 14, 2025. Microsoft will no longer provide free software updates and the current version, 22H2, will be the final version of Windows 10.
Can you still use Windows 10 after Oct 14th 2025?
If you still have Windows 10 on your PC, it will still work. However, you will not have access to security updates which will likely leave you vulnerable to cyber security breaches. We highly recommend upgrading to Windows 11 for a more efficient experience and heightened security.

If you need more time before moving to Windows 11 you can purchase a one-year Extended Security Updates (ESU) program for $30 USD that will help you protect your Windows 10 device.
Upgrade Now: 5 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Delay
1 – Mitigate Cyber Security Risks
Running on an unsupported operating system can subject your business to increased security risk where breaches can lead to significant financial losses and damage to reputation. According to recent data, the average cost of a cybersecurity breach for UK businesses is around £3.58 million.
In addition, many cyber insurance policies require businesses to maintain up-to-date operating systems. Failing to upgrade could result in denied claims or higher premiums. Migrating to Windows 11 ensures compliance with these policies, safeguarding your financial interests.
2 – Ensure Critical Application Support
After October 14, 2025, while Microsoft 365 apps and on premise Office suite will continue to function, they will no longer be supported on Windows 10 after Windows 10 goes End of Support. This means…
- Microsoft will no longer provide phone/chat/email support for this configuration
- Microsoft will no longer be creating updates or hotfixes for issues that emerge when running on unsupported operating systems, and
- New features or apps may not work on unsupported operating systems.
- Purchase of Windows 10 ESU does not affect support for Microsoft 365 Apps on Windows 10. This will remain an unsupported configuration even for customers with ESU.
Similarly, third-party app vendors may still choose to update their apps for Windows 10, but it’s less likely. Without ongoing security updates from Microsoft, these apps could become more vulnerable to security risks, and vendors might prioritise updating their apps for Windows 11 instead.
3 – Avoid Getting Caught Out
Migrating to Windows 11 takes time and it varies from business to business. IT teams that do not have a plan yet may be caught by surprise and not be able to move in time.
Stakeholder buy-in and due diligence take time. While Windows 11 is built on the same engineering platform as Windows 10, many IT teams are required to get stakeholder buy-in, build a deployment and execute due diligence which could take significant time. These include running compatibility assessments, testing and pilots before broad rollout. Businesses with Windows 11 ineligible devices will also need to consider device procurement and supply lead times.
4 – Alleviate Supply Risks
In May 2024, Canalys forecasted that 7 Million commercial devices in the UK are ineligible for Windows 11 and will need to be refreshed. IDC has reported and forecasted 6 million device shipments between 2024Q2 to 2025Q3. Only a portion of these shipments will be used to refresh ineligible devices. This means more than 1 million commercial devices may not get supply for refresh before Oct 2024
As demand in the channel builds towards Oct 2025, businesses may be faced with supply and device choice challenges if they do not plan with their supplier early.
5 – Increase productivity
New Windows 11 PCs can deliver a reported 250% ROI. Specifically, businesses that are already on Windows 11 are enjoying the following benefits…
- Workforce productivity: 42% faster completion of demanding workloads and 50% faster workflows on average.
- Security: 58% reported drop in security incidents.
- IT productivity: 80% reduced number of helpdesk tickets.
