Grand Theft Auto VI (TBC)
This title obviously had to make the list as it’s arguably the most hyped game of 2025; it’s arguably the most hyped game of the decade!
The first trailer, released on December 1st, 2023, sent shockwaves across the community. However, it has been 474 days since this first trailer dropped, and there is still no sign of trailer 2. Encouragingly, Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, confirmed in a financial report that the game will be released in 2025 (fingers crossed!).
GTA 6 will take players back to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City, in a massive, immersive world with a variety of environments to explore (and wreak havoc in). Recent supposed map leaks show just how enormous and varied the new map will be.
The main storyline will follow the story of two Bonnie and Clyde-esque characters, Lucia and Jason, with supporting characters and NPCs perfectly encapsulating a satirical and fictionalised representation of the weird and wonderful state of Leonida (based on Miami and wider South Florida).
Console users will be the first to play GTA 6, with PC users having to wait until 2026. For console gamers, the key consideration will be storage. While it is still speculation at this point, rumours suggest that the file size for GTA 6 could exceed 200 GB. If this is the case, investing in extra storage could be essential.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows (March 2025)
The latest instalment of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed franchise is Assassin’s Creed Shadows, set in feudal Japan during the Azuchi-Momoyama period, beginning in 1579.
This instalment follows the story of Naoe, a skilled shinobi assassin from Iga Province, trained by her father, Fujibayashi Nagato, and Yasuke, a legendary African samurai who came to Japan with the Portuguese and served under Lord Oda Nobunaga, as they navigate the turbulent power struggle of the Sengoku period.
The game will feature a richly detailed and visually stunning representation of 1579 Japan. To put it simply, the game is going to be very pretty.

Borderlands 4 (September 2025)
The latest instalment from Gearbox Software and 2K, Borderlands 4, is aiming for a September 2025 release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. The latest edition of the beloved FPS franchise will follow the adventures of four new Vault Hunters, who lead a resistance against the new villain, The Timekeeper, and his army of synthetic followers known as the Order.
The fifth entry in the Borderlands series will feature major gameplay advancements, including the removal of loading screens, new vehicles and tools (such as grapple hooks!), reinvented skill trees for greater customisation, and a significantly increased arsenal of customisable weapons.
