ASUS NVIDIA graphics card series, explained.

Browse Ebuyer's range of ASUS NVIDIA graphics cards and you'll notice there are three main series available: ASUS ROG - Republic of Gamers, ASUS TUF Gaming, and ASUS Phoenix.

At first sight, you might think they're simply cool branding names and not much else. However, each series of ASUS NVIDIA graphics card serves a purpose, so let's explain them.

What are ASUS ROG - Republic of Gamers graphics cards?

ASUS's ROG - Republic of Gamers series of NVIDIA graphics cards are their highest-end offerings. ASUS ROG NVIDIA GPUs are engineered and manufactured for die-hard performance enthusiasts wanting to push their hardware to the limits.

While others may falter, ASUS ROG NVIDIA GPUs can handle high overclocks as they're armed with only the highest-quality components and a robust power delivery. This yields incredible performance, whether you're dialling in a manual overclock using ASUS GPU Tweak or letting the GPU's boost algorithm do its thing.

What's more, some models feature all-in-one liquid coolers to push performance even further, while reducing noise and temperatures. ASUS ROG NVIDIA GPUs are some of the best you'll find anywhere.

What are ASUS TUF Gaming graphics cards?

ASUS's TUF Gaming series of NVIDIA graphics cards are favoured among gaming PC builders as, like the name suggests, they're built tough. ASUS TUF NVIDIA GPUs utilise quality components for reliable, long-running operation, but are available at a more budget-friendly price.

Key features of ASUS TUF NVIDIA GPUs include metal backplates for reduced GPU sag and heightened durability, and the newest fan designs for optimised cooling. From chokes to MOSFETS, ASUS TUF NVIDIA GPUs are tested thoroughly - down to their transistors - to ensure durability where it counts. They're a step up over most budget offerings.

What are ASUS Phoenix graphics cards?

ASUS's Phoenix series of NVIDIA graphics card take what's so good from their other series - quality components, the newest fans designs and more - and condenses it down into the tiniest package possible. This makes ASUS Phoenix NVIDIA GPUs serious contenders for anyone who's looking to build a small form-factor PC, like in a Mini ITX or Micro ATX computer case.

ASUS Phoenix NVIDIA GPUs feature a single-fan cooling solution, but given how power-efficient modern GPUs like the RTX 3050 are, it's more than adequate for keeping temperature in check.

What is ASUS GPU Tweak?

The hardware of an ASUS NVIDIA graphics card - the cooling solution, heatsink size - is undoubtably important. However, it's also worthwhile to look at the software that's bundled in with it, as it's how you'll interface with your card.

Every manufacturer has their own GPU tuning utility and ASUS's is known as ASUS GPU Tweak. Now in its third iteration, here are a couple things you can do with it.

Overclocking

ASUS GPU Tweak makes the often-daunting process of overclocking your new ASUS NVIDIA graphics card as easy as possible, no matter if you're a first-time PC builder. It's designed to be intuitive to use, but not too simplified as to lock out experienced overclockers.

If you're unfamiliar with overclocking and don't know where to start, ASUS GPU Tweak offers an automated, one-click overclocking experience with pre-configured profiles and NVIDIA's OC Scanner. Sliders for an ASUS NVIDIA GPU's clock speed, voltage and more and also exposed to the user if you want to delve deep and fine-tune.

Fan Control

Out of the box, the speed at which your ASUS NVIDIA graphic card's fans spool up and down might not be exactly to your liking. Perhaps you want them to keep quiet for longer at a low RPM, or you want them to kick in aggressively as soon as there's even a slight bump to temperature. That's where ASUS GPU Tweak comes in.

It lets you plot custom fan curves, so you can control how fast the GPU's fans spin at any given temperature. What's more, you can link these curves up to user-defined profiles. For instance, you can have a 'ËœDesktop' profile for silent navigation of your desktop, and a 'ËœGame' profile that ramps up the fans when you launch a performance-intensive game.
