Pros and Cons of an All-in-One PC
If you haven't got the room for a fully-fledged desktop PC set-up, an all-in-one PC is a fantastic, space-saving alternative. By combining a computer, monitor, speakers, and more into a singular unit, you don't need nearly as large of a desk for an all-in-one PC. You could, for example, have it tucked away in a corner of your living room, or even pushed back against a wall on your kitchen counter.
You may think it a bit odd having a computer in your kitchen, but you've got to remember that everything's built right into an all-in-one PC. So, it's not as if you're going to have a bulky computer case taking up space or a bunch of lose cables sprawling all over the place, but rather just a single power cable. It'll be a lot less of eyesore.
Where you can fit a monitor, you can more than likely fit an all-in-one PC as well. In fact, just like monitors, there's some wall-mountable all-in-one PCs out there. When paired with a wireless keyboard and mouse, an all-in-one computer will make for an especially clean, clutter-free set-up.
By extension, it will only take a few minutes to get your new all-in-one PC up and running once it arrives from Ebuyer, even if you're a complete tech novice. You've just got to hook it up to power, after all - no need to manage cables and make sure they're plugged into the right ports and slots.
Power-Efficient Performance
As they're more compact than your average boxy tower PC, all-in-one PCs don't have the greatest cooling capacity. This, in turn, means that you won't find the latest, most powerful components in all-in-one PCs.
In fact, browse our range and you'll find that many all-in-one PCs feature "power-optimised" T-series Intel processors and even U-series Intel processors, which were originally designed for thin-and-light laptops. These chips are more than adequate for day-to-day tasks like web browsing and word processing. Today's all-in-one PCs aren't much thicker than a standalone monitor. They don't have enough room for hefty heatsinks to keep power-hungry processors cool.
For these reasons, don't expect to play the latest gaming releases on an all-in-one PC. Some all-in-one PCs feature low-end dedicated GPUs, but the majority rely on the processor's integrated graphics, which won't run much more than light esports titles.
Upgradability and Repairability
Compared to a traditional tower PC, an all-in-one PC is nowhere near as upgradable. At most, you'll be able to swap out its memory and storage, but even this isn't a given.
In more and more all-in-one PCs, components are soldered directly to the mainboard to maximise space savings, as opposed to being socketable and user-upgradable. So, if a component were to fail while you're out of warranty, or you just want to upgrade it to something faster, really your only option is to buy a whole new all-in-one PC.
On the other hand, it's possible to buy off-the-shelf components and install them yourself in a tower PC, helping to breath new life into it long after its warranty has elapsed.
