Is 27" Good for a Monitor?

Think a 24" monitor would be a bit too compact for watching movies, playing games, and multi-tasking but don't want to go overboard with an enormous ultrawide either? 27" is a great in-between size for a monitor. It's not too big or too small, making it ideal for a wide variety of tasks. There's nothing wrong with a 24" monitor if desk space is limited. A 27" monitor just affords you more room for all your apps and windows.

Is a 27" Monitor Too Big?

Compared to a 24" monitor, you'd be surprised by how much difference the extra three inches of a 27" monitor make to your viewing experience. It may not look like a whole lot on paper. Once you've got a 27-inch monitor set up on your desk, however, the extra screen real estate is immediately apparent. That is, if you can fit a 27" monitor on your desk in the first place.

Most people shouldn't have any trouble finding the room for a 27" monitor, even on a smallish desk. Take a look at our range and you'll see we stock many 27-inch monitors; they're evidently a very popular option. But it's always worth checking regardless, especially if you're thinking about running two 27" monitors side-by-side for a multi-monitor setup.

If space is a concern, you can mount 27-inch monitors to the wall or an external monitor arm to reduce the monitors' footprint on your desk. This will give you plenty of space for all your other peripherals and work-from-home accessories.

What's the Best Resolution for a 27" Monitor?

While there's plenty of affordable 27" 1080p monitors to choose from, at this size, it's worth considering a 27" 1440p monitor instead. You may not have heard of 1440p (2,560 x 1,440 pixels) as it's pretty much non-existent in the television market, but it's fantastic on a 27-inch monitor.

At roughly 1.7x the resolution of 1080p, 1440p gives you a big boost in clarity without breaking the bank. 1080p is fine for some casual web browsing and the like, but when blown up to 27", it can lack clarity in games and movies. On the other hand, 4K at 27" will result in the sharpest image, though this ultra-high-resolution is arguably better suited to 32" and 34"-and-larger monitors.
