Is a 32" Monitor Too Big?

With 24" and 27" monitors being as common as they are (just look at how many of these monitors we stock), a 32" monitor may be a little larger than what you're used to. But once you've got a 32-inch monitor set up on your desk, you'll quickly come to realise that it's the best monitor size on which to work, stream, and game. It's not quite like having a television on your desk, but it's getting there. 32" gives you plenty of room display all your apps and windows at once, letting you fully focus on the task at hand.

Despite their size, the slim-bezel designs of today's 32-inch monitors make them feel less intrusive on your desk. Moreover, you can always mount a 32" monitor to the wall or a monitor arm to free up more space.

What's the Best Resolution for a 32" Monitor?

Besides some casual web browsing, 1080p is too low of a resolution for a 32" monitor. 24" is as large as you want to go with 1080p in most instances, so when blown up to 32 inches, the lack of pixel density becomes far too apparent. Ideally, the best resolution for a 32" monitor is 4K. 4K really comes into its own on a 32-inch monitor, more so than a 27-inch monitor. It's a large enough size that you can really take full advantage of the ultra-high resolution, whether it be for work, study, or leisure.

We also stock a number of 32" 1440p monitors. 1440p at 32 inches has the same pixels-per-inch (PPI) as 1080p at 24 inches, in fact. So, you can expect a similar level of sharpness between a 32" 1440p monitor and a 24" 1080p monitor. Of course, with the latter, you'll have a lot more screen real estate to work with. If you want more of an across-the-board upgrade in size as well as in sharpness, a 32-inch 4K monitor provides just that.

Is 24", 27", or 32" Better for Gaming?

Well, it depends on the types of games you like to play; there's no one 'best' monitor size for gaming. That said, if you've got the hardware to render games at an ultra-high-resolution, a 32" 4K monitor will produce incredibly crisp images on an impressive scale. Once you go 32", it's hard to go back to a 27" monitor, never mind a 24" monitor. These enormous monitors are especially great if you like to recline in a gaming chair, with a controller in hand, and play through the latest AAA games.

There's something to be said for a compact 24-inch monitor for high-level competitive gaming, however. At this size, it's easy to keep all of a monitor in your peripheral vision. This will save you from having to dart your eyes from one corner of a screen to another, increasing your reaction time. A 32-inch monitor certainly makes for a wholly immersive experience in those high-fidelity, story-driven games, but it's arguably a little too big for esports titles.
