Why Do I Need a Wireless Mouse?
Providing that must-have versatility you need when working outside of the office, a wireless computer mouse eliminates all the finicky and overly sensitive restrictions imposed by trackpads, allowing you to get on with your day with minimal interruptions.
What Should I Look For in a Wireless Mouse?
Battery Life
The battery lives of some wireless mice on this page are outstanding. We're not talking about tens of hours' worth of run time off a single AA battery, but hundreds. Browse our range and you'll find wireless mice which boast battery lives of up to 12, 24, and even 36 months. These figures, of course, vary greatly depending on how much you use your mouse. Regardless, you can expect your new wireless mouse's battery to last months at a time, not weeks.
A rechargeable wireless mouse will be your best friend in particular. It'll let you power your wireless mouse back up while you're on a break, without the need to worry about individual batteries. That said, some people prefer the ability to hot-swap a dead battery with a fresh, fully-charged one in an instant. Whichever type of wireless mouse you prefer, you'll find both right here at Ebuyer.
Size & Comfort
Wireless mice come in a variety of shapes and sizes, the most popular of which being compact, palm-sized mice. These are perfect for slinging in a laptop bag and working on-the-go, particularly if you like to work in, say, a coffee shop where there's not much room to manoeuvre a mouse. However, these small wireless mice may not be the most comfortable to use over long stretches of time, nor do they typically feature lots of buttons for shortcuts. For those who want something that can be used all day long, take a look at our ergonomic wireless mice.
2.4GHz Wireless Mice vs Bluetooth Wireless Mice
Wireless mice connect to your computer via either 2.4GHz or Bluetooth. 2.4GHz wireless is the faster of the two, noticeably so. There's a lot less latency between your computer and a 2.4GHz wireless mouse compared to a Bluetooth wireless mouse. It's why all the best wireless gaming mice utilise 2.4GHZ wireless for the fastest, lowest latency inputs. If you're just using a wireless mouse for some casual web browsing, however, Bluetooth's latency may be perfectly acceptable.
To achieve these low latencies, 2.4GHz wireless mice require their own 2.4GHz wireless dongles. A dongle will take up one of your computer's USB ports - not ideal if you've got a thin-and-light laptop with a couple of USB ports at most. Bluetooth mice, on the other hand, pair directly with your computer's internal Bluetooth adapter, like any other Bluetooth device. Also, Bluetooth's a nice-to-have if you ever need to hook a wireless mouse up to a smartphone or, more likely, a tablet. As these kind of devices lack the space for full-sized USB ports, the only way to connect wireless mice to them is via Bluetooth.
