Smart Speaker benefits
When used correctly, smart speakers can be a great way to reduce the screen time your children use and can also help those with disabilities that make using a keyboard or screen challenging. When used correctly, smart speakers can be a great way to help children take a break from screens, remove distractions and help them focus to improve their education and learning.
How Smart Is A Smart Speaker?
Smart speakers have come a long way since they were created, and now they can feel almost human when you communicate with them. This adds a level of refinement in the gadgets - but all of that refinement and the variety of features they offer are only with you as long as you have an internet connection. So, if you have a dodgy internet, you may end up frustrated when your smart speaker seems less smart that you imagined!
How do they work?
They have relay points, and these listen to your voice and then send them to the cloud to process it, and send the answers back. These are Wi-Fi connected speakers and they need an active internet connection to work.
How do you know the connection is no good?
If you lose internet connectivity and try to use your smart speaker, you will probably hear something along the lines of: 'Sorry, I am having trouble connecting to the internet. Please check the help section of your Alexa app!'
Learning and development
Some smart speakers have special fun educational features that can help your child in different ways. They can be utilised to develop their communication and problem-solving skills. Plus, depending on the smart speaker, your children can be helped with reading, writing and maths. Smart speakers are versatile and in a year or two, all of us will be using them, and you will wonder how we ever coped before!
