    What are micro SD cards?

SD cards are simply a type of flash memory storage device that is portable. It can be easily installed into a device and used to record and store data. As the device is removable the data on it can accessed away from the recording device by using an SD card reader.

The micro pretext simply refers to the size of the card. Unlike standard cards a micro SD card can be used in smaller devices which makes them ideal for mobile phones and similar sized devices.

    High performance flash memory

Most of us will use a micro SD (Secure Digital) or SDHC card as they are now used in many different portable devices including mobile phones, digital cameras and personal media players.

So what is the difference between SD, SDHC and SDXC?

SDHC stands for Secure Digital High Capacity and, as you would expect from the name, SDHC cards are able to store much more data than standard SD varieties. But SDXC (Secure Digital eXtended Capacity) has more memory than both of the other two types of card. Which one you choose of course depends very much on what device you are using and how much data you want, or need, to store.

    Choosing your micro SD card

There is a huge choice of micro SD, SDHC and SDXC cards available on Ebuyer.com and many come with a standard SD adapter for great versatility.

Look out for SD cards from giants in the tech industry like Kingston and SanDisk who both produce cards to suit every device in a variety of capacities as do other manufacturers such as Verbatim and Transcend.
