Got there in the end!

A great price for this writer which is actually an NEC drive.

It's matt black and sexy and feels solid. Does +/- and RAM and comes boxed with Nero 7 and a CDR plus a DVD lightscribe disc.

OK. For the uninitiated, you need to plug in the drive then instal Nero. Now Lightscribe is an additional bit of standalone software you download from ( http://www.nero.com/enu/technologies-direct-disc-labeling.html . Once you've installed it you can then update it to version 1.12.37.1.

I also upgraded the drives firmware to 1.06 and did a massive update on Nero.

After all that i still can't get nero to write lightscribe. Running Nero's "Test Drive", it say's the drive doesn't support Lightscribe!!

Anyway, my Roxio Easy Media creator worked without any updates and burn a simple 8 word text disc in 2 minutes 15 seconds.

I've bought 100 lightscribe discs but probably won't be doing many Lightscribe. It's fine for those important discs but too time consuming for every disc produced.

Cracking drive e-buyer. I'm chuffed with it. Lost one star for the hassle i had in downloading updates etc and it's failure to work with Nero
