Superb
operating system:Windows VistaThe Xonar DS is the best budget sound card by a country mile. Out of the box it sounds better than any Creative card I've heard, with beautifully clear and detailed sound.
The DS is also more than a match for some of Asus' more expensive cards because of it's support for OpAmp swapping. The included JRC 5532D OpAmp is very good, but plugging in a really top quality OpAmp takes the DS to a level no other low cost sound card can even get near.
Couple the great sound quality with solid, straightforward drivers and the Xonar DS would be a good deal at twice this price. It's a steal.
Great Card
operating system:Windows 7I purchased an open box jobby, £30.00, fantastic, changed the op-amp to this: http://tinyurl.com/6crmlpj . Excellent. Software suite is pretty good, but as others have said you need to go to the Asus Global support site to get the Win 7 driver. Low profile bracket, (the card is the same size as a LP 5570 (qf199415), two tiny screws & S/PDIF adaptor rattling about in the box, as well as the CD & QS Guide.
No problems

Works fine with my Asus P5N-E motherboard, driver installation went smoothly (Vista x64) and it sounds great with my X-540s ( http://www.ebuyer.com/product/120414 ) :-)
Wow
operating system:Windows XPThis card is a breath of fresh air - compared with the awful Realtek on board CODECs (ALC888, 885, 889) this is a country mile better. I can't believe how much clearer and more pleasant this is to listen to with any source.
Motherboard manufacturers should be ashamed of themselves palming us off with Realtek cheap chips. At least the ADi ones were better. RIP.
And great value.
