Great set of lugs!
operating system:Not ApplicableAt the time of purchase, I could only afford to buy 4 of 6 HDD for my ReadyNAS Pro (as ordered by "she who should be obeyed").
As these disks are for storage, I opted for the WD10EARS Caviar GREEN drives to help maintain lower energy consumption, temperature and disk acoustic.
Needless to say that they have performed faultlessly since I gained control of my NAS after the many, many hours that RAID takes to resync them!
(I left it to resync overnight)
I will be buying another 2 of these drives for the NAS later.
These HDD are OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) so there's no extras with them apart from some silica jell - so no screws, jumpers cables.
Just a lower ebuyer price, which is even better!
Great drive at a bargain price
operating system:Windows VistaI have just bought one of these drives for a replacement main drive in my HP media vault.
So far it has been a great improvement and I will soon be buying another one to add to the vault.
Very quite in operation and excellent performance, the media vault put the drives into standby after an hour anyway but I have not noticed any drop in performance with this drive spinning down.
Considering the vault is on almost 24/7 and hosts all of my movies and music files which are streamed around this house, this has been a very worthwhile investment, I cannot recommend WD drives enough.
Excellent price as always from ebuyer!
SATA1 mobo, installed like a dream
operating system:Windows XPIf your looking at a large fast drive to add to an old board that is stuck with SATA150 then this still has a jumper option to force it to the slower interface. I think the HDtack speed is about fixed to 80gb/s but it is quiet and fast.
Wish I had bought 2!
Great drives, not suitable for RAID
operating system:Windows XPBrought two of these drive recently in the hope of filling up my new Netgear ReadyNAS Duo 2110, had major issues and after much reasearch I have found that they are not suitable for NAS. Please check the readynas forums to verify this. There's also a post from WD themselves stating they are not suitable for NAS due to load cycle count.
Aside from this fact they will now reside in my main machine and just be extra storage. Great drive, excellent price. Just not suitable for NAS.
