Great for WHS
operating system:Windows 7I've had mine for just over a month, which I bought to upgrade my Atom based Windows Home Server box. Ebuyer delivery quickly even on super saver, and its VERY well packed.
These drives are known to work well in XP/2003 and other operating systems which do not support advanced format drives. I bought this when I was on WHS 1 (2003 server) and was worried about that, but I upgraded almost immediately to to WHS 2011 (Windows Server 2008 R2 based), so I can't comment on that now.
It runs slightly noiser and hotter than the Samsung 1TB green drive it replaces. The Samsung would run at just under 30C and this runs at around 35C. Its not a particularly noisy or hot drive just that the Samsung was very quiet and cool.
However, it is noticably quicker than the Samsung and I am pleased with the overall performance.
If I'd known I was going to a modern operating system which supported advanced format then I might have gone for another Samsung, but the Seagate has still proved a solid choice.
P.S. I've only taken a star off because it runs hotter than I'd like and I am waiting to see if that affects reliablity, so far, so good.
