Effective home security with CCTV features

Feel confident that your premises are secure with a CCTV system. The cameras themselves are packed with features. Although the specs for individual models differ, they most often boast high definition resolution and day / night capabilities. There is also wide-angle capability to consider, and many of them have digital zoom.

What are wired CCTV cameras?

Essentially, wired and unwired (ie. wireless) CCTV cameras servce exactly the same purpose - they provide you with peace of mind and protection. The difference is that wired CCTV is the most traditional form of CCTV, as it is connected to a power source via power cables, and to the internet using an ethernet cable.

One of the main benefits of this is that there is no power-outage when batteries run down and out. Not only does a wired CCTV camera system allow you to record footage of, say, attempted break-ins or vandalism, but the cameras themselves have a physical presence which offers its own disincentive for criminal activity. Should an incident occur, you'll have video evidence to give to the police and may even be able to identify the suspect.

Other than a wired camera, what else do I need?

If the camera is the eyes then the digital video recorder (DVR) is the brain of your CCTV system. Without a DVR to record and store the footage, a CCTV wouldn't be much use on its own. Once you've acquired a DVR to work in tandem with your wired CCTV you'll need to make sure you've got the correct cables to connect the two.
