Amazing Quality and comes with ink
os:
Windows XPDidn't know what I would end up with when I ordered this. Setting it up took about 40 mins including the unwrapping, software install, reboot etc...
Quality? AMAZED - just using ordinary copier paper - it prints photo perfect with colour enhance and best photo!
Next question? How long does the ink last?
Well -
Just printed 45 pages of a 131mm x 68mm photo and 45 pages of a 97mm x 89mm photo. (roughly 1/6th of a 210 x 279mm A4 sheet)
The printer driver shows that I am down 52% on the magenta, 30% on the yellow, 25% on the black and 0% on the cyan.
Each photo is about 93mm2 out of an a4 area of 242mm2, so that means each photo I printed fits 2.6 times into the A4, so that gives
36 full A4 pages before I was down 52% on one colour. So you should be able to print out 70 giant A4 pages at full
absolute best quality possible (FULL 5000++ DPI) and all the trimmings. No idea about the other print modes.
Each colour comes in a seperate cartridge, for £6.99.
Now the quality is great and is not meant to degrade over time, as the ink pigment drop comes wrapped in resin inside the ink.
(I have some old bottles of all purpose 'refill kit' ink colours, which I will use to refill when these carts go, just hoping this doesn't gum up the print heads.
I guess the other 6 print modes save ink - they range from text, text + lines, photo, to best photo.
Low ink costs and low purchase price - its a winner!
os:
Windows XPI've been buying these for a little while now as replacements for individual users when old ones break, or ink replacement costs exceed printer value. Low ink costs and low purchase price together with Epsons proven record for reliability and durability make this printer best solution for my schools non networked printing requirements. I'm about to order another!
Update
os:
Windows XP** Buy an extra Magenta TO711 cartridge ** with your order to save hassle.
This is the colour that always goes first.
The one disadvantage with this printer is the driver.
Functionally its perfect ; Photo print etc.. - just that if there is a problem with the printer, which creates an error, the dialogue processes that pop up are impossible to get rid of, and you basically need to reboot to clear down all its processes.
This is not a big deal for me as I only occasionally use the printer's exceptional output. However, it would be a deal breaker for frequent use.
Hopefully Epson will release an updated driver for this printer...
Epson D92 colour printer
What a bargain, delivered in 48 hrs. complete with all the cartridges you need to set up. Set up is a doddle - took 15mins all in. Prints well and fast. Couldnt fault it. Cartridges are small so I ordered a spare set at the same time, cheap and cheerful and does the job.
Epson D92 colour printer
What a bargain, delivered in 48 hrs. complete with all the cartridges you need to set up. Set up is a doddle - took 15mins all in. You must order the Belkin cable specified, its slightly different to the normal fittings. Prints well and fast. Couldnt fault it. Cartridges are small so I ordered a spare set at the same time, cheap and cheerful and does the job.
Works with Ubuntu
os:
LinuxWorks with Ubuntu Gutsy if you use the Epson Stylus Stylus D68 driver (it may offer the D88 driver when you plug it in but that doesn't work - at least not for me. Fine with the D68 driver though. A bit slow, but print quality fine for the price.
A great little printer
os:
Windows XPI wanted a printer for my card making. However this printer does not print on card which I knew when I purchased it, I wanted a cheap and cheerful printer to get me started and then perhaps later I will get a more expensive printer. I was amazed at the quality of printing that this printer produces.....I couldn't believe it, it is great. I couldn't be happier.
With card making my inks are going down pretty quickly, especially the yellow followed by the other colours and then black but the cartridges are relatively cheap. I haven't tried compatable inks despite family members telling me they have on their printers and have had no probs but I am a bit reluctant, I have heard nightmare stories however the printer is cheap and would be easily replaced.
I would highly recommend this printer, depending of course what you are looking for but if you are just looking for a cheap printer then this is the one for you, it's great.
It is a bit noisy when loading but when it is printing it is quieter.
Great Printer
os:
Windows XPBought this as my old (for old read ancient!) Epson printer finally bit the dust. I looked for a Printer where to buy the replacement cartridges your name doesn't have to Roman, this fitted the bill perfectly. Unbelievably fast delivery time! (nice one ebuyer), just make sure that you order the Belkin USB cable that is recommended with it. Set up was easy, if not a little long 35 mins from putting the disk in to starting first print. Makes my old printer look like a stone tablet and chisel job. great piece of kit!
D92 Colour printer
os:
Windows XPIf your looking for a no frills compact printer that delivers the goods, take a look at this printer.
The idea use for this printer is the person who does not do much printing, if you are looking for volume printing then you may want to consider the bigger printers in the Epson range as the cartridges can empty quickly if your printing out photographs as I have found.
The printer drivers and setup was very quick, in typical printer fashion you need to buy the printer cable in this case its a USB cable.
You will find that the noise of the paper loading is very loud compared to the actual printing, compared to my old HP this Epson is allot noisier, so long print jobs, you may want to go an get yourself a cup of coffee...
I gave this *** for an overall score because it does its job, its got software to help you print photos, emails, documents and ensures it fits on the page! It also uses 4 ink cartridges so your replacement costs can be spread.
I found that you will need to buy your cartridges early as finding stockists may require a journey depending on where you live and if your able to order an extra black cartridge and cyan as it appears that these two go first followed by magenta.
Poor printer
os:
Windows XPA flimsy, noisy machine, harking back to the dark days of the 480/580, of which I bought masses, all of which were scrapped within a year or two. Epson have improved vastly recently, but this on is a backward step. Software problems, in particular.
