Good operating Menu
os:
Not ApplicableVery dubious over cheaper units as usually have poor software, this is completely different has easy to use menu system.
Can change from day to nite, 2d-3d, volume, language, mp3/4, destination, points of interest, can do a-b so can plan route from home all with just a couple of touch's.
Has a funky way of handling roundabouts, gone are the instruction 3rd left as your going round it and instead you have the diagram of the roundabout before you even get there showing you which turn to take!!!
For the money this has exceeded my expectations - is packed with bits I haven't used yet like the MP3 & MP4 player.
So just off to buy a bigger SD card and load it up with music and videos !!
Cheers Ebuyer - 5 STARS

Not Applicableebuyer's description appears to be for the older version of this product which is no longer in production. The CPU is actually a Centrality (running at 333MHz I understand) rather than the quoted Samsung 400MHz
Build quality is more than acceptable for the price although I wouldn't want to drop it many times.
There is a socket for an external antenna (available on ebay etc), but given that my device readily picks up a signal indoors I don't see any need for this.
The device charges via the DC-in or the USB socket, so the lack of a mains adapter is not an issue.
GPS Navigation directions are loud and clear through the devices speaker.
The 3.5" screen, whilst small compared to the increasing number of widescreen units, is bright and clear.
I've yet to test the battery, although I've read others have achieved 3.5 hours +
As with many of these low cost PNDs from the far East it is relatively straighforward to 'unlock' the SY-885 in order to gain access to the Start menu and install other applications.
That said I'm more than happy with the supplied navigation software, and the email from eBuyer alerting me to the update for full 7 digit postcode routing was a nice touch.
With a bit of tinkering I've managed to get Memory Map Pocket Navigator working, although I'm not sure how it peforms on-foot with an OS map loaded - I've heard that the GPS module in these type of devices is more suited to in-car; your mileage may vary as they say!

A nifty little Sat Nav

Windows XPI bought one of these in November and I must say that I am very impressed with it.
I have used TomTom and Garmin GPS and the quality of this Navigo is really good for the money.
I wanted a simple A to B GPS for my Dad to use (Xmas present) It had to have a simple interface with big screen icons for my Dads fat fingers.
This does the job very well indeed! In fact I like it so much I have written a full review on my website

This is the link for you to go see.
Rock on EBuyer keep up the good work finding these quality products at competitive prices !!!
best regards

Not Applicablegot mine on one of it's frequent dips down to Forty Nine Ninety Nine - BARGAIN!
Came with Turbodog 4 installed - had to update using the supplied files in trhe Stop Press! about this item.
As others seemed to have problems updating, i followed instructions to the letter (overwrite the first folder - don't delete!!) - all worked perfectly. now running Turbodog 5 with 7 digit postcode search.
I bought this with a view to updating to TomTom 6 like everyone else. Having used it yesterday on a few 'test' runs i see absolutely no point - the Turbodog 5 finds everything and all works very quickly. (I'm particularly impressed with the recalculation of the route having taken a few deliberately wrong turns - within a few seconds it's back on track!)
Can't get a signal inside but as soon as i'm outside, it locks on very quickly - 30 seconds or so and it knows where I am.
There's no supplied wall charger - just USB and a car charger. Having said that any tye of wall plug that takes a USB cable (the type you get with MP3 players etc) or a Motorola charger will work - I've tried them both.
All in all an excellent bit of kit - whether you want to run TomTom or just stick with the supplied software.
Easy to Use

Not ApplicableOutstanding value for money
has postcode search, 3d, mp3/4, great packaging, good design, night and day functions and surprisingly for a cheaper unit DOESN'T have that horrible flappy antenna (all in built)
Paid 2 years ago over 400 pound for a Tom Tom 710 would never go back what you lose on ease of use and it's only a small loss is made up for in the money saved.
Excellent for the Money
Was looking for a decent but well priced SatNav when I came across this one. Ive used ebuyer in the past many times and as usual the service was excellent.
This SatNav for the money is excellent, good large, clear screen. Easy to navigate buttons/menus and clear spoken instructions with good mapping.
The extras of a mp3 player and video player are very good.
Battery life is excellent and the car mount supplied is sturdy and holds the unit firm.
Doesnt come with a uk plug charger just a incar charger and usb cable which also doubles up as a charger.
All in all an excellent product for the price.
AMAZING for the price

Not Applicable4 hours after fiddling with this unit, I've managed to do several things. Firstly, I updated this to TopDog 5 (for full 7 digit postcodes) - I think mine must've been the last of the 5 digit ones. However, not overly impressed with that software (annoying how it tells you that 'In 2 miles...' when it's actually 2km and 1.3 miles). So managed to mod it to take MioMap and TomTom 6 software. Also managed to get it to boot into Windows CE (ver 5.0).
Not had a problem running TomTom on it - works perfectly (also recognises speed cams and other POIs and also all the voices and full postal codes etc)
What can I say? WOW!

Windows XPMine arrived yesterday. By the time I had finished playing with it I had TomTom6 loaded with GB and WE Major Roads, and thousands of POIs including speed cameras etc! :-D
My unit came with a Turbodog 5 manual. However I didn't check whether it had been configured with the updates "out of the box" - I just applied the updates straight away. This went very smoothly.
That said, I find the TT6 software much more intuitive. But if you can't (or don't want to) "hack" the Navigo, then Turbodog 5 will get you there.
Note 1: When you connect the Navigo to your computer, make sure both the PC and the Navigo are On before connecting the USB cable. Also, go into System-Sys Info-USB on the Navigo and select MASS STORAGE. Then, when the screen prompt appears on the Navigo (after connecting the USB cable) select the left option - this allows your PC to see the Navigo as a removable disk.
Note 2: http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=697455 is a useful read. :-)
All-in-all, this device is great value for money!
Want Quality WMV Movies on your Navigo?
I put this in the review section but thought it would be useful on the comments pages too.
It's always best to turn on your Navigo before inserting your SD card with movies on. It will beep & recognise the files that you have saved.
If you are struggling when it comes to watching movie clips on your Navigo then the most effective way is to use Windows Movie Maker to encode them. It comes pre-loaded with most Windows operating systems.
First open up Windows Movie Maker. Click on the Import Video command and choose your video clip.
When it has loaded, select your clips & drag & drop into the timeline at the bottom of the screen.
Once this is done you are ready to save your movie.
Create a folder on your desktop & call it something like Navigo movies. This is where you can store them for easy tranfer to your SD card.
Back in Movie Maker, click on 'Save to my computer'.
Give your Movie a name then click browse & select the folder that you just created on your desktop. Click 'Next'. Select other settings.
You will now see a dropdown menu with many options. I have found that the Video for broadband, either 512 (Kbps) 340(Kbps) 150(Kbps) are the most stable depending on the overall visual speed & complexity of the clip.
It will now run in the correct 320 x 240 pixels resolution that suits the Navigo. Obviously the higher the bitrate the better the quality & the larger the file but see what suits you. Click 'next' then wait. When it's transferred just drag it onto your SD card from the folder that you created on your desktop & hey Presto! it works perfectly. 25fps in 512kbps & both sound & visuals are in sync.
WMV files work great & a 3.5min clip at 512kbps will only take up around 12mb of space & only 4 @ 150kbps.
If you are having problems with codecs, just download a decent codec pack.
Great, once you've worked out the postcode

Windows XPJust bought and very pleased, using Postcode search is fun, not. You need to know nearest town or city and go from there, but otherwise very pleased. No mains charge so use cigarette lighters or the USB lead will charge it from your PC,
