BEST YET
os:
Windows Vistaupdated this from my 112D for 360 back-ups and its works great. if you have got 2gb + ram u can read and write at crazy speeds. no coasters and definitely the best DL burner you can get... gr8 value
Crackin Drive
os:
Windows XPThis was a replacement for my aging LG and a need to start backing up large files to DVD..errrm
this drive is perfect, it does everything and fast. It reads / and writes DVD's at a frightening rate and not 1 coaster yet ( btw if your into 360 backups then this is for you - stick to x4 writing though for stability.
XP has no issues with this drive but cannot comment on vista. I have had no issues with burning cd's either like some on the forums have but I do cap the speed at which it writes them anyway as a matter of course.
Works With MAC
os:
Max OSXI bought this drive to replace an internal combo drive in an eMac.
all the features of this drive including DL burning are fully supported if using Mac OS X 10.4 and up. if you are installing this drive with 10.3 or lower, you will need a piece of software called patchburn to be able to burn CDs or DVDs at all.
all in all, once fitted into the eMac i did nothing else.. the mac recognised the drive as a fully compatible burner/player straight away, it burns DVDs quickly and CDs even quicker! i also booted an OS from it with ease.
i have also found that the drive is very quiet! but the fact that the drive is nestled behind the eMacs casing and drive door helps!
best value optical IDE drive about
os:
Windows XPHave purchased a couple of these drives now and have nothing but good things to say about them.
Sure, there a couple cheaper, but for the extra few quid these drives are ultra reliable and quiet and quick and good looking and I'm sure you're getting the idea.
I've had a long succession of pioneer drives along with others such as sony, nec, liteon etc, but have always had problems with the other brands and only once has a pioneer gone South. This was a 109 with many years use.
I'm using a multiple boot system with about five operating systems and all have no problems with utilising the pioneer to its full capabilities.
In short, if you need a optical drive, BUY THIS ONE!!!
Vista Problems
Had a few problems with Vista until I updated the firmware from the pioneer site.
Perfect since then. Would recommend, it's a great piece of kit for the money.
Follow up to faulty DVR-115DBKs
Just as a quick follow up to my previous comments, Ebuyer agreed to RMA my 2 faulty drives and agreed they were indeed faulty when they were checked. I now have 2 working drives and they're great. They're quieter than any other drive I've owned when burning and DVD playback is now fine. They look great in my black cases, almost invisible in fact due to the lack of any printed stuff on the fronts. I've given them 5 stars because they do everything they can do just fine, but a slight downside is a CD read/write speed of 40x is a tad slow and also they cannot write DVD-RAM, only read, but these things are no big deal really.
Pioneer DVR-115DBK
os:
Windows XPI had no real experience with drives, changing them or removing them from the system.
The disc drive's manual (though I skipped through it) only had very brief instructions, but I only looked at it after I installed the drive.
Simple, unscrew the screw/s (singular for me), pull the cables out carefully, slide the drive out from the front and reverse the process with the new drive; could scarcely be any simpler. I'm thirteen and I reckon a six year old could do it.
So... the product.
Very good, ten times better than my last drive (which was a load of bs) and I highly recommend you purchase this. Read the other reviews for a deeper insight; they certainly helped me a lot.

Windows VistaKeep it short, FANTASTIC!
Superb Drive
os:
Windows XPOkay, so the burner is the most plain and boring looking drive in the Universe but ... who cares, fabulous designs with lots of flashing lights, bells & whistles don't improve the performance or reliability in any way ... it's the pedigree of the electronics and mechanical components inside that really matter and this burner has been 100 times more stable so far than my old LG that used to cause blue-screens on simply reading/accessing data.
Can't fault it, a great buy from a great company, nice one Pioneer, nice one ebuyer :)
Good performance but noisy
os:
Windows XPGreat speed
burns dual layer discs with no problems (Aone #125827) and even some older datawrite DL discs that had not worked with my LG and Lite-On burners.
My only complaint is the noise - have tried mounted internally and in an external enclosure - no difference - they are incredibly noisy when burning. Much noisier than other drives I have used.
