Fast, Quiet
review by: Unix Guru operating system: Linux

Superb drive.

The Linux "hdparm -t /dev/sda" command reports that the read speed of my ST3320613AS SATA drive is just over 120 Mbytes/s. That's a single drive; no RAID.

And I can barely hear the drive seeking above the noise of the CPU and power supply fans. I cannot hear the drive at all when it's idle.

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R (rev. 2.0)

Operating System: Linux 2.6.25.1

good drive but bad ebuyer

this is a great drive but ebuyer sent me 3 faulty ones and selected to get a refund on the 3rd RMA.

the 1st drive OCUK sent me worked...

maby i'm just unlucky and ebuyer may have some bad stock but 3 bad drives in a row is not acceptable

i'll give this drive 5 stars anyway for its incredible price/performance. it took my NWN2-SoZ load time from 1.04 mins to 40 secs :).

Quick but abit Hot and Noisy!

The Hard Drive is excellent from performance point.

But is more noisy than other seagate hard drives i have used.

And the temperature is abit off the limits.

Had it installed in several ASUS barebones and it does get hot around 50+ c0.

Vista rating 5.9 even if you leave the SATA 1 Limiting jumper.

Great hard drive but needs extra cooling.

not worth it
review by: Steve rating:

The Good:

Transfer Rates

Min: 59MB/sec

Max: 124MB/sec

It worked!

The Bad:

Access Time: 22.3 ms (it's spec'd at 11 ms)

Felt very sluggish during boot and loading apps, support were no help (no response after 2 weeks), RMA got me another drive with the same problem.

Replaced with a WD3200AAKS, much faster and virtually the same price.
