Product Description
Sony Optiarc's flagship product comes with a serial ATA interface. It burns DVDs in +/-R format at up to 24x speed and CDs at up to 48x speed. DVD-RAM, DVD+R and and DVD-R dual layer media the Sony Optiarc AD-7240S writes at up to 12x speed. DVD+RW discs are written with up to 8x speed and DVD-RWs at up to 6x speed. The AD-7240S achieves up to 16x reading speed with DVDs and 48x reading speed with CDs.Specification

Does what it says on the tin!

OtherBargain price, quiet in use, works well, looks good. It's an OEM drive so no cables, software or manual. Only takes SATA power, no MOLEX. Fantastic for the price, a system builders dream.

It works great. The tray ejects and closes fast and it recognises all of the dvd types i need.

Does what it says on the tin

Windows 7OEM so no box or cables, its very quiet compared to my old IDE 6x DVD drive.
Not much to say its a DVD Drive.
This Drive
Do any SATA drives come with any cables, I bought a retail boxed one, and it did not come with a cable, so to be really honest, OEM drives are as good as a retail box anyday! The software is not an issue when most FREE writing software does the trick!
Plugs in - works!

Windows 7Mountedthe drive into my desktop on windows 7, detected the drive and works fine. Would agree with previous comment not strickly black, more of a very dark grey but for the price can live with. The drive comes with no extras, screws nothing, so make sure you have some spare and also a SATA cable is required.
Decent DVD drive

Windows 7Its worth the money and more in value, however if you like a quiet surrounding you might have to pay more, this drive is EXTREMELY LOUD when loading, but it does the job.
if its reading a disc, your going to hear it rev up.
you'll need Sata cables and screws, Its OEM so drive and nothing else

You get what you pay for

Windows 7The specs look great for this price. But you get what you pay for. It's really noisy and the tray is flimsy. It also looks very plastic. Doesn't look good quality at all. It's not even black, it's more of a grey colour. It's good for the price, but I wish I'd paid more and got a decent drive.
