Product Description

drivers
Someone said this was a Clevo M760TG (which has no Xp drivers on the Clevo web-site) but the model number listed on the bottom of my machine says M76T.
I checked on the Clevo site and there are full XP drivers just select M74xT / M76xT as the model type to find them.
Some of the drivers on the CD work fine with XP (sound and VGA) but the network card doesnt so you need to download elsewhere and copy to the machine before you can get it on the net.

Dont worry about the M760T / M761T distinction, I think its just colour scheme variants.
Also, dont bother downloading Bluetooth / Fingerprint or 3G drivers, these are factory options not supplied.
The driver servers are terrible so just keep trying.
XP installed fine (Home and Pro) but I had to select XP as the OS type in the BIOS, Blue screen if you dont. You also need an SP3 / slipstreamed SP3 installer CD for it to work.
The native screen res is 1680x1050 and looks very sharp.
The listed spec is also slightly wrong as it comes with Gigabit ethernet not 100Mbit, wireless is still only b/g.
Ubuntu also installs seamlessly for any Unix lovers.
Build quality and spec are stunning for the price, the only nag I have is the keyboard colour (I prefer black) but I'm not docking any points for that, brilliant machine.

OtherDon't be put off buy the low price, remember it has NO OS. That suited me anywayz because I wanted a Laptop to try out Windows 7 Enterprise Edition which you can download for FREE for a Trial of 3 Months, which is Brillaint, Windows 7 Has every single driver for the Clevo Laptop, even the Webcam and Mic, soundcard, GPU, Drivers etc. even Has an eSata external Port (FAB)
Now this laptop has one of the Fastest Core 2 Duo CPU's on the Market, thats why I bought... Im a long Term Customer of ebuyer and this is another one of their regular Bargains they have from time to time, Even has DVD+R-DL SuperDrive inside. The other thing that attacted me to this laptop was the 800Mhz 4GB Ram, which leaves the machine running very fast.!
Take it from me for eBuyers asking price buy 2 off them because they will not be around long. Clevo are re-known for quality so you will not be disappointed... oh! on the back of my Laptop said made in Sept 2009. and the Bios is upto date, so no need to mess with it.!
Also, it has Wifi and a 6 cell lithium ion battery, but you need to turn the power down in Vista/Windows 7, if you want to conserve battery life. However, I have it turned up to High Performance, and only get 2 hours outta the battery, but on economy settings you could easily get 3.5 hrs from the 6 Cell battery, Fab, cuz most other Laptops at this price would be 3 Cell batteries.

Very please with this, the quality of the chassis is lovely and looks great.

Great laptop
My girlfriends sister needed a cheap decent laptop. Just loaded on windows 7 specs are great for the price
-a proper2.2ghz core 2 duo 2mb cache(no pentium dual rubbish)
-4gb ram 800MHZ (not like the usual 667mhz you find)
-4500ghd graphics which is handy if you plan on playing anything other than mine sweeper
-250gb hd
-wireless
-built in sd card reader
-webcam/microphone
Only thing i could find fault with was the disk with the drivers only supported xp/vista, but that was pritty much solved by windows having them all preloaded anyway except for the webcam.
So if you know what you are doing i don't think you can find better value for the price.
Great Laptop

Windows 7Great laptop for the price. Installed Windows 7 64 bit, and it works a dream. Display is what Acer would probably term "Crystal Brite", and is excellent.
Battery lasts around 3 hours, and this laptop is much cooler when sitting on your lap for a long time. Slim design, so had to get a new slim line bag, as the old bag (no - not the wife), is now far too big. (The wife loved it as a present)

LinuxGot this yesterday - installed Linux Mint 8.0 64 Bit and Mandriva 2010.0 64 Bit. Both run extremely quickly, but only Mandriva sets up the Webcam out of the box. Everything else works perfectly under both distros. The wireless card is particularly sensitive and the screen resolution maxes out at 1440 x 900. The build quality is very good and I do like the white keys and matt black lid -doesn't easily show finger marks. The speakers are adequate and the synaptic pad and buttons are positive and easy to use.
I chose this in preference to the Asus and Acer similarly priced models partly due to no OS and also because the processor is so impressive in comparison to those shipped on the other machines.
I believe this machine is excellent value, especially due to no Windows tax.....

LinuxThis is truly another excellent Ebuyer special at a great price.
The laptop is lightning fast and with 2MB cache, the dual-core 2.2GHz processor really flies. 4GB is a nice bonus, too.
I have tested this laptop with Hardy, Intrepid, Jaunty and Karmic. Bar some X display freezes with the Intel driver when playing movies under Hardy, Ubuntu works seamlessly on this laptop out of the box. No such Intel driver issues abound with either Intrepid, Jaunty or Karmic. Oh yeah, Mac OS X installs and works on this laptop too if you happen to have a legitimate copy of that OS.
I am so glad Ebuyer are selling PCs and laptops WITHOUT an OS. Now you're not obliged to run MS Windows on your machine ! Alternatives do exist. This really brings the price down and installing your own OS is not really that difficult.
One nice surprise was the display 15.4" can push a really high resolution in X (1680x1050) I recall.

LinuxI ordered two of these for my kids for Xmas. Speedy delivery exactly when specified, thanks Ebuyer. I installed Ubuntu but had a issue, due to my setup, with the wireless driver so tried Linux Mint instead. Worked flawlessly out of the box. 20 mins to install with all the required programs installed such as Open office etc. Excellent screen resolution, nice feel to the keyboard, touchpad works fine too. Kids love it and are happy to use Linux instead of MS. You won't find a laptop with this spec for a similar price as you will have to pay MS for their OS so save your money and use Linux instead!

Does this laptop come with a driver CD containing windows 7 drivers?
Does the BIOS have to be set to the particular OS as with the cheaper version of this laptop? if so is their an option for windows 7?
