best value for money
operating system:Windows 7there are cheaper hard disk available from western digital branded, but in my experiences, MK5065GSX is the best value for money, it's well built and robust enough to endure a shock.
Very satisfied
My 320GB WD Scorpio Black was nearly full so I was looking out for a larger drive.
When ebuyer had a limited special deal on these Toshiba drives I ordered one even though it spins at 5400rpm instead of the 7200rpm WD.
So far so good.
I cloned my Snow Leopard system HD using SuperDuper!, installed the new drive and it's working perfectly.
I haven't done any measurements but subjectively it doesn't feel any slower than the WD Scorpio Black and of course it has over 50% more space.
Worth a five star rating (assuming it stays reliable!!)
Excellent G-shock endure rate - good for portable Nexto video stoarge
operating system:OtherI purchased 6 of these drive to be installed with external video backup device ND2725. The ND2725 used for video backup at a field, so the internal drive required to meet a certain quality and MK5065GSX is good for G-shock endure rate, reliable and comes with big spaces.
I used to buy Seagate ST9500325ASG. But Toshiba one is £10 cheaper but more reliable and quieter than Seagate.
All our camera operators are happy with this new drive!

operating system:Windows XPI bought 6 of these drives already and I also own WD Scorpio Blue 500GB but definitely prefer the Toshiba MK5065GSX. The most important reason is, of course, ebuyer's unbeatable price: £49.98 vs £60.49 for WD the last time I checked. Although Amazon.co.uk has WD Scorpio Blue for £55.98 I would still recommend Toshiba MK5065GSX because for the price difference you can buy TWO USB-SATA 2.5" caddies on eBay (yes, they cost only £2.54 inc shipping on eBay so all other places rip you off by charging £6 unless you prefer not to wait a month for delivery from Hong Kong i.e. :)
Anyway, I have upgraded all notebooks of my family members (including my own) with this Toshiba drive and also use an identical one in the USB caddy for making a regular mirror backup. I use dual boot Fedora Linux Core 12 and MS Windows XP Pro on my netbook Acer AspireOne D250 netbook (with 2G RAM) and it works perfectly. The power management works fine (in both Linux and XP) and the disk is very quiet and fast --- exactly the same speed (as shown by hdparm -tT /dev/sda) as WD Scorpio Blue 500GB so the claims that WD is a bit faster are probably exaggerations.

Great for PS3
operating system:Windows 7Ordered this Wednesday night and had it by Friday morning on super saver, free postage too. Got this to replace a WD5000BEVT for my PS3 slim (120gb originally) the WD had problems with iplayer (stuttering) even after using the "fix", it started the short freezes during the ps3 menu. First thing I checked when I got this was iplayer and its fine, now installing all my games again!
I would recommend this for PS3 especially over a WD Scorpio Blue.
Great value
operating system:Not ApplicableFitted in my 2009 white Macbook no problem, installation took 5-10 minutes requiring loosening of 3 small philips screws and 4 torx screws for the housing. Formatted for Mac in seconds, restoring full system from a Time Machine backup took about an hour. I had been waiting a while for a 500Gb laptop drive to hit sub-£50 and here we have it. Drive is very quiet and happy so far.
Perfect for PS3

What can I say, this drive is PERFECT and has resolved all of the annoying problems bought on with the WD5000BEVT. Highly recommend as an PS3 upgrade over the WD5000BEVT.

operating system:OtherJust like a previous reviewer, I bought this for my PS3 to replace the WD Scorpio Blue that was constantly head parking and clunking.
It's been in there for a few hours and so far seems so much faster, and doesn't clunk/stutter/head park at all.
If you're thinking about getting this for your PS3 - DO IT! Awesome hard drive for a fantastic price.
The only slight downfall I think with this is that it's ever so slightly noisier than other 2.5inch 500GB drives I've come across. But hey, I don't care about that really, I actually don't mind a little bit of hard drive noise. It's still whisper quiet though.
Highly recommended product!
